Is Happy Death Day decent enough to watch?  The amount of people who like it has me thinking I should at least consider watching it, but it looks dumb as hell.

It's a fun movie. No way would you consider it a horror but it's a good time.

It's actually a comedy, or I guess you could call it horror-comedy, but yeah, I actually quite enjoyed Happy Death Day. I didn't like the sequel, HDD2U, though. Time travel in a slasher comedy, seriously? It also didn't have the heart of the original.

I'm glad we're fine tuning on my least favorite film category... Horror. Can't wait til we get to comedy and action/adventure.

One of the reasons I went with horror first was I figured it wouldnt be a large contender for the final prize.

Im upping the nomination bid to 3+ for the next round. I think that will help focus the voting. I dont think a 3 choice point system will change the fact that this is ultimately a popularity contest, which seems to be most of the issues had in this poll. Its not that surprising to me IT is winning, it was a popular film and was seen by a more mainstream audience.

We aren't the academy. Just because something is artsy like that weird movie where the girl sleeps with the fish wins there, doesn't mean it should win here.

You can do whatever you want but if the scoring was like this point wise it might be a little more true even if not many vote.  Gives more options to get a true consensus.  Is a little more work though.

I am a big GDT fan, and I liked that movie, but it was unsettlingly weird, and probably shouldn't have gotten best picture.

I've never been so opposed to a movie winning best picture as I was that one. 3 billboards was a million times better.

Pan's Labyrinth was way better than The Shape of Water, Pan's Labyrinth was like a 10, The Shape of Water was like a 4.   And yes it was artsy film with all the movie nostalgia crap, living above a theater and all the damn accordion music.  Oh it is Lady and the Tramp but instead of two dogs it is a freaking Lady and the Creature from the Black Lagoon.  How Fing magical.  Freaking movie sucked ***.  Oh all the lime and light green tones and old time wardrobe, whatever the story sucked and yeah it is basically a movie about a lady who gets it on with a fish man, how romantic...

Pan's Labyrinth is a timeless movie and a classic, easily his best, and should have won Best Picture but was not even nominated and The Departed won it over Babel which probably should have won.

Pan’s Labyrinth is, and probably always will be, my alltime favorite foreign language movie.

How it didn't even win best foreign film that year was a theft.

Good question, but it did win Art direction and Cinematography and Makeup which is more impressive and harder to do arguably.  And did get do away with Art direction as a category it looks like?

2006 is easily the richest and best year of cinema since the 70s

Pan's Labyrinth, the fountain, children of men, the fall  ,

the queen, apocalypto, volver,

babel,  the departed, casino royale,

idiocracy, borat, even 300 and the prestige and the illusionist....

a good third to half of that list is vastly overrated movies that made good to big box office despite their mediocre quality.

I will make an interesting observation about the list though

->  Fight Club, Office Space, 8MM, American Beauty , Insider, Boys Don't Cry, Eyes Wide Shut

what do all these films have in common? they depict a very broken yet comprehensive view of the failure of American culture/society , when  by all intents and purposes we were supposedly at the best point we'd ever been    https://news.gallup.com/poll/1669/general-mood-country.aspx   . now that I think of it, would be interesting to re-examine a list of what came out in 87....
