He was way below his normal standard and the Patriots barely tried to keep him refusing to give him an extension multiple times. Also the same thing could be said about the Browns about last year where people thought they were going to be a playoff team etc and were still mediocre. I'll believe the Buccs are legit when I see it. Moves on paper are just that. Even with the on paper great moves by the Saints, I'm not expecting them to be better than they were last year until I see it in action. Okay a few things to address. I guess the Browns comparison you're making first. The Browns switched their coaching staff around and those coaches were unproven heading into 2019. Arians and Bowels and Clyde Christensen are known commodities on the Buccaneers staff. The Buccaneers core is much the same whereas the Browns got much of their hype from signing a ton of free agents on defense and trading for Odell Beckham Jr. An injury prone wide receiver is not comparable to a durable, nine-time-Super Bowl-playing quarterback. So to review so far: Arians/Bowels are much more accomplished than Freddie Kitchens and Greg Williams. Tom Brady is much more of a difference maker than a single wide receiver. The Browns also lost their heart and soul in Joe Thomas before 2018 then traded away Kevin Zeitler before 2019 which undermined their season quite a bit. The Buccaneers by comparison are not losing anyone of significance. In fact, the Buccaneers are a net positive by replacing Jameis Winston alone with the rate of turnovers he had in 2019. The 2018 Browns were hyped up at the end of their 7-8-1 season because they were playing like a more legitimate team. 2018 Browns finished as one of the least penalized teams and minimized turnovers, particularly at the QB position with an impressive rookie season by Baker Mayfield. The Browns had to sustain their great football whereas the Buccaneers heading into the 2020 season simply need to turn the ball over less to see a dramatic improvement in team results. The Buccaneers have more potential in essence and they went 7-9 despite the turnovers whereas the Browns won went 7-8-1 in 2018 even with a massive reduction in penalties and turnovers. The other contributing factor behind the Browns hype is the fact that they are a historically terrible franchise. Any chance at a playoff appearance is newsworthy. In the last two decades, Tampa Bay has won a Super Bowl and been competitive about as often as most other franchises so the level of hype or excitement over any success they have is less noteworthy. Now, this idea that Tom Brady is lesser because the Patriots didn't pursue him. Wrong. The Patriots were willing to give him a contract if he really wanted to stay. Brady wanted to explore free agency. It's been reported going back to last off-season after they won their sixth Super Bowl. Belichick and Brady have different drives at this point and it was a mutual breakup. It is absurd to say "Brady might not even be a good QB anymore" because Tom Brady is still a great quarterback who started off 2019 as an MVP candidate before Josh Gordon quit and got waived, before Antonio Brown was released, and before Julian Edelman (shoulder surgery)/Ben Watson (played entire season with torn Achilles)/Mohamed Sanu (ankle surgery) got injured. Brady threw 24 touchdowns against only 8 interceptions in a very limited offense. All of the fullbacks and tight ends were out for a vast majority of the season, (James Develin/Jakob Johnson/Matt LaCosse/Ryan Izzo). Aside from the skill position players being constantly injured and in flux during the season and having extremely limited time to acclimate with each other in practice, the offensive line suffered the same with unexpected injuries removing starting linemen Isaiah Wynn and David Andrews for most of the season, (or all of it in Andrews case). Marcus Cannon was perpetually hurt, (again), starting at right tackle, and the depth was depleted before the season started with injuries. That is a great season for Brady and now with the Buccaneers you can expect him to return to an MVP favorite again. The Buccaneers lost six games in 2019 by a single score. Simply replacing Winston's nearly 40 turnovers with Brady is an improvement that isn't just on paper. Joe_is_the_best
Sanders is getting up there in years, but he’s faster than you think & isn’t a one trick pony. He also catches everything. He'll be a great fit, and he'll actually get targets in this offense. Great signing.

Incarcerated_Scarface
Why did we trade for him if we didn't try and sign him to a contract like that???

Jeudy / Lamb / Ruggs would be my odds on guess right now, but there's a lot of time left. We don't have any money right now (roughly 3-5 million available), we would have had to cut people as is just to sign him and there are other positions we are going to need to add to as well. Was always very likely that Manny was only a rental.
