I think at their absolute peaks that Bird was slightly more impactful. Kobe had more good seasons though. It's almost a mirror of the MJ-LeBron argument. I think the gap between Bird and Kobe at their peak is larger than Jordan/LeBron gap, I also think the longevity favors Kobe over Bird more than LeBron over Jordan. I see what you're saying though.
