The browns were in the wrong for not matching it or even franchising him to begin with. He could have been our replacement for joe when he retired. He didn’t go out and get the most money. Browns first offer was the biggest offer he got but he wanted to test the market and he came back disappointed that he didn’t get top RT money.he got pissy that when he set his value the browns changed their offer to match that, which was lower. He wasn’t deserving of a franchise tag.

And we should have kept take offer on the table. How many tackles did we go through after he left? It was a crap show.

roger murdock
Basically by not resigning Scwartz we ended up using multiple picks trying to replace him + having several years of terrible RT play + spending lots of money at that position for no return The Schwartz dynamic is probably a top 3 reason why we've been so bad. Letting our good players go for no reason.

Johnson and Coleman? You’re sensationalizing the investment there. As far as the money, we paid Hubbard, who looked damned solid this year when he played, so perhaps the issue was coaching as much as talent? Quote The Schwartz dynamic is probably a top 3 reason why we've been so bad. Letting our good players go for no reason. I agree that we’ve let far too much talent walk, but there is a reason, even if it sucks. Regime change. Good, bad or indifferent, GM’s are going to clean house for “their guys”. Haslam decides the best way to build a winner was to give each coach/gm one or two years to win, and they may or may not have their pick as to who they work with on the other side of things (GM’s saddled with coaches, coaches with GM’s).
