Umbaugh21
Dak is a no go for me. Can’t take the cowboys trash. We’ve been burnt before by taking the players our own division rivals do not want. We may even be having the discussion of bringing in a “top qb” too soon. While Haskins has not looked good, if Smith doesn’t get healthy, Haskins will have another shot at proving himself, never know what will happen. I don't see Dak as an over the hill player which is what we usually sign from the Cowboys. Dak is just entering his prime and may not have even reached his ceiling as a passer yet. I don't love the idea of signing Dak, but it may be our best option for improving the position, not only for next year, but for the next 5. Dak is only going to be 28 next July, he's just entering his prime, if we sign him and he plays well, we could have him for two more contracts aka this entire decade. I'm certainly willing to see what Haskins has but he's been a disappointment this year, I didn't think he'd regress - which he really hasn't - but he hasn't progressed either. Waiting around for another year - or longer - for Haskins to develop is not a good strategy for this team long term. At some point you either have it or you don't. I'm a huge Haskins fan, but he really hasn't shown much to suggest he's going to be anything more than a back up QB in the league so far in his career.
