Many posters said that the Boston Celtics would miss Avery Bradley as well as Jae Crowder because of that defense but truth be told Jaylen Brown Jayson Tatum and the others have picked up the slack very well. Boston's defense is probably better than last year. While K Irving is not a stopper on D he is certainly playing good in my eyes and definitely better than IT.

The Celtics defense played every game with a humongous handicap with IT at PG.

It's not even that IT was bad.  He was so horrific that Stevens didn't even let him try to play defense.  Stevens knew/thought that it was better to have the other four players bend themselves into pretzels switching and double and protecting IT than it is for IT to try to guard superstars like Patty Mills and Jrue Holiday (both of whom destroyed him).

Any time a player got the ball they could shoot over IT virtually uncontested

Any time a player got the ball they could dribble past IT virtually uncontested

Any time a player got to the rim, they could finish over him virtually uncontested

Any time a player got covered by him off ball, they could count on IT to fall asleep and get a layup uncontested

Any time IT got knocked down on offense and didn't get a call he would bark at the ref and the rest of the team would play 4 vs 5 while he whined.

Any time IT could, he would leak out in transition and give his man an opportunity to either rebound or get a wide open three if the opponent got an ORB.

And I think a big part of the rebounding issues being fixed is just the transition game is much better this year and teams have to fall back and respect that.  WIth IT he would make sure he got the ball to walk up the court or he could take the shot.  Kyrie doesn't hog the ball in transition and it allows a much more free and balanced attack and lets whoever is up ahead get it and forces defenses to actually worry about the whole team and everyone.  Not just if IT got the ball and was ahead of the pack.

Won't argue with this.

Biggest surprise to me, who knew Kyrie could play defense?! You're talking about a dude that had a -2.3 DRPM last year with the Cavs. He actually looks competent guarding other point guards. Amazing what Stevens can do.

Kyrie will lock down 1st team all defense, MVP and get another Title this year. OK joking or...... B|
