Behind Reggie White?

I'm taking Bruce Smith ahead of Reggie White.

Maybe I'm biased because as a Jets fan I watched a lot more of Bruce Smith than I did Reggie White throughout my childhood days of the 90s but Bruce Smith is the greatest D-Lineman I've ever witnessed.

Aaron Donald has All-Time great potential but he'll need to dominate at this pace/rate/level for another 7-8 years before he becomes deserving of being mentioned alongside the likes of Reggie Wayne and/or (my personal G.O.A.T.) Bruce Smith. Aaron Donald has 98 career sacks. Bruce Smith had 92 Sacks against just the AFC East alone (Jets/Dolphins/Patriots/Colts).

Even though he has only played 8 seasons, AD has been a pro bowler every year, a 7-time All-Pro, 3-time DPOY, DROY, and now has a ring (and played incredibly in the Super Bowl). Been great to other-worldly every year of his career. GOAT DT for sure.

What changed your mind? 🙂

Longevity over Watt - I still think Watt had the higher peak in 2014-2015, but Donald wasn’t too far off from that peak, and it’s more sustained (still going, actually).

There’s also something about showing up in the biggest moment - that play to essentially end the SB was a big time moment.

So, it’s Donald. Prime Watt had a run, but couldn’t keep that flame flickering…

I most definitely meant to include him SMH!

SB 🏆 is a team accomplishment not an individual accolade.

Aaron Donald has a long ways to go before catching Bruce Smith..

• 2x Defensive Player of the Year.

• 10x All-Pro.

• 11x Pro-Bowler.

• 2x forced fumbles co-leader.

√ 1,225 Tackles.

√ 200 Sacks.

√ 43 Forced Fumbles.

✓ Led his D's to 4 Consecutive Trips to the SB (wasn't his fault his FG kicker went wide right and stole a 🏆 away from him)

Aaron Donald has a long ways to go before catching Bruce Smith..

If Aaron Donald wants to go down as the most dominant of All-Time?

His (on the field) production better surpass Bruce Smith by the time it's all said and done with, because if not?

Mean Joe Greene was way before my time, so I can’t say he’s the absolute best. However, he at least deserves to be mentioned.

He reminds me of Bill Russell. Without any flashy stats, he was widely recognized as the best player on a team full of hall of famers who dominated their era.

As for players I’ve watched, I can’t argue with Aaron Donald.

Do you really no see the contradiction here?

Aaron Donald:

- 3x Defensive Player of the year

- 7x All Pro (only in his 8th year as a pro)

- 8x Pro Bowler (see above on how long he’s been a Pro)

Seems to me like Donald already passed him.
