Replacing them with more backups who would never see the field won't help players. Good special teams players can show their mettle and then work their way up to a big pay day. Sure there aren't many punt/kick return TDs anymore but kicking is a 3rd of the game even if it isn't a third of the plays. I wouldn't be surprised if fans of teams with bad special teams would just start a topic to try to get them eliminated because they are important and their team isn't good at them. Oh wait... What do you mean? It is because they are overrated and might get injured, not because my team is bad at special teams. Special teams players aren't even people.
