AlexGreen#20
Gamepass finally stopped sucking. I'm in the middle of going through my notes on this ****hole of a game. Starting with the run blocking. I'm going to try and keep this updated all season long, along with the passing numbers. The interior in the run game was a disaster. 16 negative blocks to only 6 positive. Runyan was brutal before going out with injury. Hanson played as expected (****ty) I was pretty disappointed by Runyan. He was worse than Hanson in the run game The Tackles at least were fine. 5 positive to 5 negative. The TEs and the WRs blocked pretty well. Total Grades Week 1: Newman: 1 Great block, 1 Good block, 2 Poor blocks Hanson: 2 Good blocks, 2 Poor blocks, 3 Terrible blocks Myers: 3 Good blocks, 5 Poor blocks, 1 Terrible block Runyan: 3 Poor blocks, 1 Terrible block Tom: 1 Good block, 1 Poor block Nijman: 3 Good blocks, 3 Poor blocks Lewis: 1 Great block, 1 Good block, 1 Poor block Davis: 1 Good block, 1 Poor block Cobb: 1 Good block Watkins: 2 Good blocks Tonyan: 1 Poor Block Deguara: 1 Good block, 1 Poor block ********** *****Total Grades This Season: ***** ********** Newman: 1 Great block, 1 Good block, 2 Poor blocks Hanson: 2 Good blocks, 2 Poor blocks, 3 Terrible blocks Myers: 3 Good blocks, 5 Poor blocks, 1 Terrible block Runyan: 3 Poor blocks, 1 Terrible block Tom: 1 Good block, 1 Poor block Nijman: 3 Good blocks, 3 Poor blocks Lewis: 1 Great block, 1 Good block, 1 Poor block Davis: 1 Good block, 1 Poor block Cobb: 1 Good block Watkins: 2 Good blocks Tonyan: 1 Poor Block Deguara: 1 Good block, 1 Poor block **************** *******Week 1******** **************** Run #1: 1st 9:10 +10 yard pitch to the right ++ Newman and Lewis: excellent combo block 0 Hanson: Solid slow down reach block -- Myers: **** job getting clean up to the ILB 0 Runyan: Inoffensive backside work 0 Nijman: Inoffensive backside work +Cobb: Good CB block + Jones: Good run **************************************************************** Run #2: 1st 8:20 +3 yards up the middle. **** outside zone work. - Newman: Unsuccessful reach block on a tough ask -- Hanson: Doesn't touch anybody trying to reach block - Myers: Slow out of his stance and JRJ trips over him. 0 Runyan: Tripped over Myers trying to reach block 0 Nijman: Inoffensive backside work 0 Davis: Good job on the counter lead 0 Watson: Admirable job on the crack block ****************************************************************** Run #3: 1st 5:27 +4 TE Trap. Double team gets decent movement if not a good seal 0 Newman: Inoffensive backside work 0 Hanson: Inoffensive backside work - Myers: Can't get the combo off of the NT up to the ILB. Myers leaves early and is meh up to the ILB - Runyan: Can't seal the NT with Myers - Nijman: Forces his men upfield but is too quick with it and his man gets back into the play 0 Deguara: Does a decent job sealing his gap 0 Lewis: Inoffensive backside work 0 Dillon: Decent run ****************************************************************** Run #4: 1st 4:51 +2 Power right end. Vikings play this very well - Newman: No movement on the combo w/Hanson. He's knocked off the ILB track by Tonyan. -- Hanson: No movement on the combo w/Newman, and then commits an egregious hold that he was lucky not to be called for. 0 Myers: Inoffensive backside work - Runyan: Solid pull by Runyan, he's just in a bad spot with 2 guys needing to be blocked 0 Nijman: Inoffensive backside work - Tonyan: Gets pinched inside and can't get up to the ILB + Dillon: Good run here to put his head down and drive for 2. ****************************************************************** Run #5: 1st 3:26 +2 Outside stretch. Good seal by the Safety 0 Newman: Meh job on the reach block, but he got picked by the Defensive End. -- Hanson: Had a stroke and didn't do anything on this play. 0 Myers: Inoffensive backside work 0 Runyan: Didn't get to the ILB but was at a positional disadvantage. 0 Nijman: Inoffensive backside work 0 Lewis: Inoffensive backside work + Watkins: Good initial punch on the combo block w/Davis and a nice job getting on to the ILB - Davis: **** effort on the combo block w/ Watkins. Gives up the positional advantage immediately 0 Dillon: Nowhere to go ****************************************************************** Run #6: 2nd 13:39 +3 Outside stretch. Bad play choice. 0 Newman: Can't reach the DT across his face 0 Hanson: Decent job getting to the 2nd level, but there's nobody to block 0 Myers: Can't reach the DT across his face 0 Runyan: Decent job getting to the 2nd level, but the ILBs are playing the cut back immediately. 0 Nijman: Can't reach the DE across his face 0 Tonyan: Decent job getting to the 2nd level 0 Jones: Nowhere to run ****************************************************************** Run #9: 2nd 8:03 Turnover on Downs This was a misread RPO. Rodgers is supposed to read the DE. If the DE crashes down to the back, Rodgers should pull the ball and he's got two targets in Watson and Lewis. He also had the option to run it in. He would have walked in untouched had he pulled it. All that said, the lack of drive skills on display here is still disappointing. If the interior could move people when manned up, the misread shouldn't matter. The Vikings slanted really aggressively with an ILB twist. Rather than bending the blocking out of position to deal with it, it's better to let Dillon meet Kendricks in the hole with a full head of steam and let the more powerful man win. 0 Newman: Inoffensive backside work - Hanson: Got pushed back. - Myers: No movement generated - Runyan: No movement generated 0 Nijman: Inoffensive backside work 0 Dillon: Nowhere to run ****************************************************************** Run #10: 3rd 13:46 +3 yards on 3rd and 1 on Tailback dive 0 Newman: Inoffensive backside work - Hanson: Solid work on the seal blocks - Myers: Solid work on the seal blocks -- Runyan: Got blown up by an ILB on what should have been a kill shot. 0 Nijman: Solid work on the seal blocks 0 Davis: Held the DE up enough to give Dillon time to get to the gap 0 Dillon: Getting taken down 1v1 by a DB isn't ideal, but he got the short yardage first down. ****************************************************************** Run #11: 3rd 13:08 +14 yards on off tackle run 0 Newman: Inoffensive backside work 0 Hanson: Inoffensive backside work + Myers: Really good work getting up to the ILB 0 Runyan: Nice pull to kickout the safety. 0 Nijman: Good job to seal the DT inside 0 Lewis: Good job pinning the DE inside + Davis: Nice take on block on the ILB + Dillon: Good read and a nice job finishing ****************************************************************** Run #12: 3rd 9:46 +4 yards on off tackle run + Newman: Good job getting to the Safety 0 Hanson: Stalemate on the reach block 0 Myers: Decent help block for Hanson. No ILB to block - Tom: Got worked laterally, needs to either anchor or drive. 0 Nijman: Decent seal block. 0 Lewis: Good job pinning the DE inside + Dillon: Another good run. ****************************************************************** Run #13: 3rd 9:06 +29 yards on off tackle run 0 Newman: Inoffensive backside work + Hanson: Good job picking up the shooting ILB - Myers: Rough showing in the open field + Tom: Nice pull block to set a crease by the DE. + Nijman: Good seal block to create a crease + Lewis: Nice stick block on the ILB + Jones: Another good run. ****************************************************************** Run #14: 3rd 7:38 +4 yards on off tackle run 0 Newman: Inoffensive backside work 0 Hanson: Decent 2nd level run but nobody there to block + Myers: Really nice snap and pull 0 Tom: Held the NT up long enough to give Myers time to pull. + Nijman: Another nice pull 0 Lewis: Nice seal block 0 Davis: Does a good enough job to slow down the DE 0 Dillon: Solid run. ****************************************************************** Run #15: 3rd 6:53 +11 yard reverse to Doubs 0 Newman: Good job selling the reverse 0 Hanson: Good job selling the reverse 0 Myers: Good job selling the reverse 0 Tom: Good job selling the reverse 0 Nijman: Good job selling the reverse + Doubs: Nice run ****************************************************************** Run #16: 3rd 5:21 +2 yard TD goal line dive 0 Newman: Inoffensive backside work 0 Hanson: Inoffensive backside work + Myers: Good double team along with Tom 0 Tom: Good combo, couldn't get to the ILB, nice job finish - Nijman: Got pushed back and beat up on the down block 0 Lewis: Solid down block 0 Watson: Good stick block on the Safety + Dillon: Strong way to finish and get over the goal line ****************************************************************** Run #17: 3rd 0:33 +5 yard first down dive 0 Newman: Inoffensive backside work 0 Hanson: Inoffensive backside work 0 Myers: Inoffensive backside work 0 Tom: Passable combo work w/Nijman. 0 Nijman: Got more of Tom than the DT on the combo block, but got some good shortage movement even if he didn't get to the ILB. - Lewis: ILB got off his block pretty easily 0 Davis: Inoffensive backside work 0 Jones: Got over the first down marker.
Packerraymond
Nice job, you using Gamepaas or NFL+ for all 22? I thought old man Lewis was by far out best run blocker in the game. Run game didn't do much without him. He was drive blocking Z one play I recall. Let him play as long as he wants to.

I agree watching Big Dog move people was a thing of beauty. On the 4th and goal, I don’t know how it was drawn up but he moved outside and Nijman crashed inside to double team the DE. Left Z wide open to cut out Dillon’s legs from behind, no small task but he had a free shot full speed. The long TD that was dropped stung, but that was the play that killed all of our momentum. Thanks for the breakdown, AG20. I would have put it in the OLine thread but I’m all for getting into the run/pass game weeds while this offense finds its identity. incognito_man
Can you sum neutrals too? I kinda view those as a half positive so I'm curious to see who 'executes to at least a bare minimum acceptable level' a lot, too.

MaximusGluteus
Sounds like Dillon and Jones made up for a lot of ****ty blocking. Hopefully Bakh and Jenkins come back soon and the rest of the o-line gets their **** together.
