MDY10
Well it’s finally week 1! It doesn’t feel like a year to feel a ton of excitement for the Rams but I’m glad football is back! That said, there’s still a lot to watch for with this team. No Cooper Kupp. Will he miss more than 4 games? How will this otherwise healthy offense look without him? Who steps up in his absence? VJ? Puka? Tutu? Higbie? Cam Akers to me is still a mystery. He looks to have bulked up a little bit. Hopefully he can provide a lot production and hopefully all the drama from last year is over with. He finished the year strong and hopefully can start off from where he left off. Stafford seems to have fallen off the face of earth according to the media. How’s that arm/elbow? If he’s truly feeling healthy and better than he’s felt in a long time then I think he can lead this offense to a successful season. Of course that depends on the defense not allowing 50 points per game as well as the Next unit to watch - The Oline is a mystery as always. I know I’m covering all positions in this “what to watch for” but let’s be real… there’s a lot of question marks to this team. Especially after an insanely injury riddled team last year. The Oline, according to Mcvay, seems to be the best one he’s had. I don’t think I can agree but let’s see. I’m excited to watch Avila. LT is a massive question mark. We’ve gained some size on the line and I think that could help. Let’s hope they don’t get absolutely bullied by the typical teams like SF and others with big fronts. If this line can be decent, I’m excited for this offense. The defense is a bigger question than any position on offense. This could be a horrible defense. Best case IMO they are middle of the pack. I’d love that. Aside from AD this defense is unbelievably young. The addition of JJIII was needed. The rest of the secondary has very little experience. Is fuller going to be that guy we thought he was becoming? How’s Hodges-Tomlinson do after a solid preseason? WHICH PASS RUSHER STEPS UP!? This is arguably the Rams biggest question mark on the entire team. We need someone other than AD to really step up and wreak some havoc. Without that, it’ll be a tough time watching them. This secondary could really use a decent pass rush as well. Lastly, special teams needs to simply not screw games up. With such a young team and so many rookies, I would guess that a lot of rookies will be playing special teams. Let’s see the rookie specialists and Maher. Glad he was added. Mcvay doesn’t have it in him to tank. That’s my opinion. I’d rather get a top 3 pick than be average and miss playoffs but at the same time I hope they show signs of having the potential to be a good team next year. With the cap space we have coming up I can’t wait to see what we look like next year, especially if this young team looks decent this year. It’s a weak NFC after SF and Philly and maybe one or two others. Seattle looks tough as well. It’s not ridiculous to think we could squeak into the playoffs. I truly don’t know what to expect at this point lol I guess that’s my analysis of how I see this team right now. Thoughts?? My realistic prediction for this game - Rams 24 Seattle 28 My optimistic prediction that isn’t that crazy- Rams 30 Seattle 28 LETS GO!! Football is back!! stl4life07
And why did the Rams not keep Gay? I knew kicking would hurt the Rams. I said Maher would miss the kick but it got blocked. Then when he got another shot I said he will miss it and he did. The offense was the defense in this game. If it wasnt for the offense sustaining that one long drive that ate up over 9 minutes the Rams couldve given up alot more than 13pts. I do love what I see from Stafford and the OL. They are really giving him time in the pocket. Puka has to play better and I think he will eventually. I want to see Akers start to get going bc I know what he can do. Good TD run by Williams. The Rams need to get points in the 2nd half right away just to keep confidence and stay within striking distance to have a chance to win.
LeotheLion
Well I'm completely stunned at this game. Pass protection was incredible. Puka, Tutu, and Kyren looked great. Then the 2nd half defense was great.
Summerall-Madden
Hey why was Ethan Evans doing kickoffs and Brett Maher wasn't? Since the latter usually does kickoffs!

NYRamsFan88
So glad the Rams silenced the negative critics and fans. This team won’t be as bad as they all predicted. Darn shame that even the fans didn’t give us a chance to win today. Edited September 11, 2023 by NYRamsFan88
NVRamsFan
LOL Thanks Fox I'm sure the Rams will use this going forward.
MDY10
That felt good. My optimistic prediction was 30-28. We got the 30 but I truly didn’t expect the defense to put the clamps on like that in the second half. Wonder if that will be a trend like it was with Staley. Shaky first half and then stout after adjustments. Seattle has a heck of an offense too. Very curious to see them vs SF. On offense, if they manage to protect Stafford next week well then look out for this offense. Thought Kyren looked better than Cam today too.
stl4life07
I kept saying 10 wins for the Rams. Yes I still think they will start (2-3) but then they will get things going after that to finish with 10 wins. I said they would beat the Seahawks. Not having Kupp didnt matter. We have been beating the Seahawks for so long that we did it before Kupp, with Kupp, and now without Kupp again. Its the same movie just different cast. Stafford is healthy and looks great. He isnt washed like so many people wanted you to think. The OL gave him time in the pocket. The pass protection was great. If we get that all season the Rams will be even more dangerous than I thought and I already thought their offense would be top 10. The run blocking need to be better to get decent runs but I liked what I saw in Williams making due with his runs. Akers was meh in the running game but that had alot to do with poor run blocking and not him. What I can I say about the receivers that havent already been said. Its safe to say Puka will be a hot name in fantasy. So will Tutu but more so Puka. Im kicking myself I didnt pick him up so now he is gone as I know someone will get him over me in waivers this week lol. But he had a heck of a game. Him and Tutu with Higbee is a nice trio of weapons for Stafford. So that will help until Kupp comes back and if they continue to play this well maybe Kupp wont be rushed back. Just save him for the long run bc I do think the Rams will be playoff contenders. The defense has its flaws but I love how young, confident, and just them flying around making plays. Just having fun. People came away in the preseason scared about this defense but I didnt care about the preseason. No Donald and just we wouldnt know about this defense until Week 1 against the Seahawks. Plus what helps them is the offense controlling the ball which the Rams did in the 1st half but really in the 2nd half. To only give up 13pts and shutout the Seahawks in the 2nd half with a defense that supposed to be horrible is impressive. The defense will get better and better as the season goes along but this game is the type of game they can look at to show if you play the right way good things will happen. I still hold my breath with the kicking. I predicted both the misses but in all fairness it was from 57 and 58 yards. Did make a 54yder I think. But I will still be shaky until I see more consistency and big time makes in big moments. Overall great win. I hope this win silence alot of the Rams doubters and quit all of this tank and Rams are one of the worst teams in football talk. In the NFC the Rams are a playoff contender. NYRamsFan88
I think we have a chance at beating SF. Their victory against the Steelers was good, but not that good. Pittsburgh is not quite there yet offensively, however the Rams have a championship QB who’s feeling better than ever.

Biggest question will be if the Oline can finally stop getting bullied by their front. They sure looked great today.
