It does because now it’s not going to come down to money available.

We saw the Vikings miss out on players and lose players over the past couple of seasons because they simply didn’t have enough money available to compete for those players. That’s no longer the case.

Yes, other teams may be able to sign more players because they have more money available to them. But if the Vikings are setting their sights on one or two key players, they have more than enough to available to make the deciding factor about things other than money.

The way I see it when more teams have the ability to offer big $ to the top free agents, some other factors factor into the decision of the player, like ability to win and whose your QB, when the money is similar. If you’re in a state with “high tax” that’s other notch against you if your offering similar money to a “low tax” state.

so right now, we have no QB and lower win ability. I’m not holding much hope of getting any cream of the crop free agent at the moment

Cowboys have until May 2nd to pick up the option, I highly doubt they will do so.

if Dallas cuts Lance before that time and another team picks him up, is it at that salary amount or at what amount?

They'd have to pick up the option.  That isn't the salary he'd get this season, that'd be the salary he'd get in 2025.  When they don't pick it up, he becomes a free agent after this season.

Dak Prescott is set to enter the final year of his current contract in 2024. The Cowboys see Prescott as their long-time leader and will look to get an extension as soon as possible.

Amidst this, a new report from Bleacher Report’s NFL insider, Jordan Schultz, suggests the Cowboys quarterback is looking to reset the market for the QBs with a historic deal. According to Schultz, Prescott is looking to sign a $60 million per year deal with the Cowboys.

I wonder how many offseason plans got tossed out the window with this increase in cap.

I would think this definitely effects the Cousins conversations internally and generally moves the needle closer to a reunion.

The increase in cap isn’t likely going to affect the Cousins decision because, from all reports, it’s never been an issue of money. It’s an issue of commitment. More money available isn’t going to change the Vikings thoughts on commitment.

Imagine the difference in reaction if Kirk Cousins were to sign another 3 year, $84M contract.

In the span of 6 years, we’d see it go from “outrageous” to “unbelievable bargain”.

While he could also sign a 2 year, $84M contract, and the reaction will mostly be neutral.
