It’s gonna come down to whether the o-line can protect the QB and open holes in the run game

The passing weapons are there for any QB who can read the field

If they can, the offense will put up enough points to win 10+ games

People are going to be open and the quarterbacks don't suck enough to not get the ball to people that are open(has demonstrated last year by both quarterbacks). The question is really going to be are they going to be able to block and are they going to be able to stay healthy so they can be available to block. I think that's going to matter more than who's throwing the ball even.

Learning a new offense vs the defense in their 3 year in the same system with young and improving players. Understandable the o-line is having issues. Still want to see it more in pass when the line can be physical

We’re also missing our best lineman and top o-line draft pick

True but pads and contact benefits the defense in ref to skill positions imo. Not jamming at the line or any fear catching stuff over the middle etc

Exactly. The offensive weapons are good enough that they should have success if the QB gets time, they should put up points

Makes sense that our draft strategy was  focusing on best Offensive players available and the next two was OL

Right it appears that the strategy is based on the idea that the quarterback isn't what's going to make the offense go. It's going to be that they have everything else. And what it appears, they're trying to find out is can the quarterbacks they have on the roster currently thrive in an offense like this or do they need a draft somebody next year to grow with all of these weapons around him.

Sure, Oline play is always important. But hitting open WRs and doing it consistently are different things. Guys don't run wide open in the NFL. They also need to protect the ball, limit turnovers and make plays when they have the shot. Being able to make plays when guys are not open is important too. Neither Minshew or AOC inspire much confidence. They can throw a great ball, followed by several bad ones in a row. AOC especially is prone to the occasional hospital ball. They are both wildly inconsistent and that's the problem.

Oline can block and the skills can get open. Still need consistent QB play and the Raiders have a bottom 3 group, that's just a fact.

Yea sure all of that is true except for the "people run don't wide open in the nfl" point you made. They do when there's a lot of them that we have and the personnel we are about to run. And time to throw. I think the coordinator matters just as much. Don't get me wrong

And AP hired a bottom of the barrel guy who flopped at his last job.
