I doubt that Addison will play.  I hope Nailor will play really well, otherwiuse Jefferson will be doubled and tripled all game.  Having the #2 WR and #1 TE out is really bad.  But Oliver could be used more.  I'd rather see both Nailor and Tristen Jackson in, than lots of short throws to Mundt.

The Vikings beat the 9ers without their #1 receiver and basically no run game last year. Hopefully Nailor steps up and KOC can scheme appropriately.

Cousins had a very good game, correct? Darnold (with KOC literally in his ear) will have to give us his best too.

The Vikings are kicking off their practice week without wide receiver Jordan Addison.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell said at his press conference that Addison will not take part in practice on Wednesday. Addison will remain inside the team’s facility getting treatment on his injured ankle and O’Connell said the team will take it a day at a time from here.

O’Connell said the rest of the team is healthy as they move toward a Week Two matchup with the 49ers.

Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel popped up on the injury report Wednesday. He did not practice with a foot injury. Van Ginkel starred in Sunday’s win over the Giants with a sack, two quarterback hits, four tackles, an interception and a pass defensed.

Dallas Turner is Van Ginkel’s backup, with Van Ginkel getting 41 snaps and Turner 36 in the opener.

The Vikings also were without receiver Jordan Addision (ankle) at Wednesday’s practice. Center Garrett Bradbury (knee) was limited and receiver Jalen Nailor (ankle) a full participant.

Aaron Jones is seeking his seventh consecutive game (including playoffs) with at least 100 scrimmage yards. If he hits that mark, it will be his third game in a row against San Francisco with triple digits.

Jones came close to 100 rushing yards, finishing with 94, last week at New York.

PFF SF 49ers @PFF_49ers

Brock Purdy can excel against the Vikings' zone-heavy defense Purdy has been the most efficient QB in the NFL against zone coverage. Minnesota ranks 3rd in zone coverage rate, presenting opportunities for Purdy to capitalize on his success against those looks.

PFFs analysis really should say Purdy could excel IF the Vikings run a zone-heavy defense - Flores is known for adjusting scheme to nurtralize opponents strengths so i doubt we'll be running as high % of zone vs the 49ers as we did the giants.

The 3rd in the league rate of zone coverage is also skewed seeing as that game was put away with almost half the game clock remaining - Vikings D was playing zone 2 prevent coverages to burn down the clock

35/45 400 yards 2 TDs / 1 INT

That TD to Addison at the end of the 1st half should have been an INT, but his first INT probably should have been a catch by Addison.

Addison giveth and then he taketh.

San Francisco's rushing offense is proven. Minnesota's run defense under Flores is, too.

In 2023, the Vikings tied for the fourth-fewest yards allowed per rush (3.8). On Sunday, they picked up where they left off, yielding to the Giants just 74 yards on 21 attempts (3.5 avg.). That's important.

Because the 49ers are riding a massive wave of momentum in the run game, and Deebo Samuel is a force multiplier across the San Francisco offense.

Flores: "It's the right fit and the right system. I think Coach Shanahan does a great job of putting those guys in positions to make plays, using their skill sets to be explosive, to create explosive plays. To run the ball the way they want to run it, to be physical, to be violent. I think it's a combination of the two. Obviously, Deebo is very, very talented, but it's a perfect fusion of talent and schematics."

A key to slowing San Francisco is flying to the football. Few do that better on the Vikings defense than second-year linebacker Ivan Pace, Jr., who left guard Blake Brandel compared earlier this week to a "jacked-up pitbull" and "heat-seeking missile." Pace had six tackles and a quarterback hit in the opener.

Flores, on Pace: "He's certainly being talked about from a game plan standpoint this week, with an aggressive, violent rushing attack that we're going to see. We're definitely talking about him, and how to deploy him along with a lot of our other guys against what is going to be a big challenge."
