Post Senior Bowl Mock

Well I am sure this is an act in futility as I will probably get most of it wrong, but here is my attempt with explanations.

Cuts-

Crawford (June 1)

Scandrick (June 1)

James Hannah

Chaz Green

Datone Jones

Extended:

Zack Martin

Trades:

Dez Bryant to Jacksonville for 4th round pick (Jacksonville signs Cousins, but gets desperate when they can't resign their top receivers)

Beasley and Dallas' 4th round pick for Patriots 3rd (younger replacement for Amendola who is a free agent)

Terrance Williams traded during training camp for a 2019 5th round pick (assuming this happens after another team's receiver is injured in preseason; alternatively he could be cut)

David Irving is given a second round tender and is signed by Detroit

Free Agents:

Tre Boston FS

Bennie Logan DT

Alex Okafor DE

John Brown WR

Demarcus Lawrence DE

Jonathon Cooper OG

Keith Smith FB

Joe Looney C

LP Ladoceur LS

Anthony Hitchens LB

Cameron Fleming OT

Given the trade of Bryant and the above cuts, we do not need to restructure any contracts. Although this could be good in the long run, I would rather restructure Frederick and sign either a bigger name FS or DT.  However, I doubt it happens and therefore have not included it in my mock. Alternatively I could see them signing Andre Smith instead of Fleming and Donte Moncrief instead of John Brown, but I simply went with my preferences.

Restructures:

None needed

Draft

(For the most part I used Drafttek's rankings.  However, I did take some liberties as I think it has certain players over and/or under valued.)

1. trade back with NYJ who has to trade up for the best remaining quarterback above playoffs teams that could take a qb.  I see us getting NYJ's 2nd, Cincinnati's 3rd which I have being traded to the Jets earlier in the draft, and 2019 1st.

2. (from New York Jets) Marcus Davenport DE  -  I think he falls out of the first round due to low level of competition, lack of polish, and having up and down days at the senior bowl.

2. Will Hernandez OG

2. (from Detroit/Irving tender) trade back with Carolina for 2019 3rd

2. (from Carolina) James Washington WR- I think he falls due to him being under six fee tall. Honestly, I have seen people predicting him being drafted between the 1st and 4th rounds.  This essentially splits the difference.

2. (Dallas trades Cincinnati's 3rd round pick received via NYJ and New England's 3rd round pick for Atlanta's 2nd round pick) Leighton Vander Esch LB

3. Dallas Goedert TE

4. (from Jacksonville) Jaleel Scott WR

4. (comp) Tyrell Crosby OT

4. (comp) James Hearns LB

5. (comp) Breeland Sparks DT

5. (comp) Levi Wallace CB

6. Daylong Mack DT

7. Kyle Hicks RB

Roster (rookies in italics, starter in bold,)

OFFENSE

RB- Elliot, Smith, Smith, Hicks

I'd be pretty furious if we got rid of our top 3 WR's this off-season. Not only are we signaling that this next year is a a complete waste but I'd imagine this would screw our cap for a bit. And if we are going to blow things up - it doesn't make sense to blow any money on major FA's.

In terms of the draft. I love it.

Davenport. Hernandez. LVE. Washington, Goedert , Crosby. All fantastic. All might end up in round 1, too. But that alone would be a hell of a draft.

He’d be an outstanding pick. I just can’t see him falling to the 3rd round. I’m hard pressed to believe he falls further than the early 2nd.

Guess you've eased your stance on small school players somewhat.

Might be Wentz's best accomplishment to this point.

I really haven’t. I still don’t typically trust many small school players and would typically avoid them if at all possible, but he’s a good prospect. Not a Day 1 plug-in starter, but a very good prospect.
