IMO, I just don't care about 'competitive games' that are played with a controller unless it's a fighting game.  Most competitive and esport games on PC because the players are just vastly superior due to the hardware they're using.  I'm sure CoD esports does very well because the game is popular, but it's very meh to me.

I loved Ground War in MW2 and BO1.  I wouldn't count on Ground War here because this game doesn't seem like it would do a 9v9 mode.

CoD esports is dwarfed in comparison to the PC titles.  Just look at the difference in prize pools.  Orgs like Echo Fox are dropping their CoD teams because it just doesn't make sense financially to keep one, especially with the move to 5v5.  I wouldn't say it's struggling, but Activision is doing everything it can to get more casual fans interested with franchising happening in the very near future.  Which I understand, I just don't think making both competitive and public matches 5v5 is going to move that needle at all.

Best way to have handled this would have been keep the game the exact same as it's always been.  6v6 and Ground War.  Make a ranked game mode with matchmaking that is 5v5 for people who are really competitive.

Gung Ho is an absolute crutch perk. I used my 3rd permanent unlock token on it even though it is unlocked around level ~25.

I see a ton of people running Lightweight which is basically useless. Makes no sense.

I've been using cold blooded, but I'll try gung ho out next time.

Have you seen the vids of people using the MOZU pistol with the operator perk which is a 1 shot kill to the head?

PS4 guys, what's the Black Market/Battle Pass thing been like so far?  What are the unlocks like?

The default skins that you can use on Specialists are pretty lackluster so just wondering if the item shop solves that.  Same for gun camos, are those unlockable as well?

Zero good specialist outfits at this point, and you'll need to play for like 100+ hours to get them anyway.

Gun camos are unlockable via headshots and challenges like every game.

So there's no camos outside the challenge ones?  Those headshot/challenges have been in every COD game, I thought there'd at least be something like there was in BO3 except instead of supply drops they were unlock able in the tiers.  That's a shame.

So what the heck are the rewards for all the 200 tiers?

I just saw that a patch today was supposed to address the tier progression again so hopefully it's a bit more reasonable now.

I been playing control and domination.  I mainly like objective game modes, but the problem is this game is inherently not a team based game.  Half the games I'm the only one trying to cap the B flag while people just sit on the outside camping and going for killstreaks.  Then every so often you get that game of domination or control where everyone on both teams is really trying to win the game and the game is really fun.

I've been getting better games on the PS4 from my experience.  Not really that big of a sample size, though.

In BO3 I played over 2000 games of Domination, and for a long time I always went super hard to play the objective and keep the B flag, and my W/L was about 1.3. Then I decided to stop doing that and just focus on getting streaks, and my W/L went up close to 2.0 (as a solo player).

Even if you are a really good player there is only so much you can do on your own to keep objectives, but a full set of high streaks can dominate the game.

But yeah, for the average potato, it is better to just run at the objective because they won't be getting streaks anyway. Might as well try to disrupt the objective.
