WR Deebo Samuel, South Carolina (5114, 216 lbs): Samuel was a do-it-all player in college, producing as a receiver, rusher, and returnman, collecting 2,230 yards from scrimmage and scoring 23 touchdowns over 30 games. He’d be a nice addition to the Patriots offense. (via Tom Pelissero)

TE Noah Fant, Iowa (6041, 249 lbs): Fant is considered one of the top tight ends in the draft, but is viewed as more of a receiving tight end compared to an all-around player. Still, he’d be an excellent addition to the Patriots and Iowa tight ends have a terrific track record. (via Alex Marvez)

WR Jalen Hurd, Baylor (6046, 226 lbs): Hurd transferred to Baylor after three season at Tennessee and switched from playing running back to wide receiver. Hurd was a top running back prospect at Tennessee, gaining 2,635 yards and adding 492 receiving yards. He gained 946 receiving yards and 209 rushing yards in his one year as a receiver at Baylor as their leading receiver. (via Ian Rapoport)

I'm starting to sour on Fant for the Pats in the 1st round. Even if he there at 32.

"viewed as more of a receiving tight end compared to an all-around player."

This is my reason for my concern. Why waste a 1st when you can get a TE later with similar skills.  I would rather grab a DL if one is sitting there as well. EX (Now this is just a example. Don't be so concerned with the players)  Lawrence, Tillary, Omenihu , Ferrell. Than take a Receiving TE later,   Dawson Knox, Jace Sternberger, Irv Smith orJosh Oliver

I view Fant as a very capable and even underrated blocker. I think his athleticism is apparent but he doesn't get the most out of it as a receiver which is what both scares me off and entices me at the same time with the potential. I think Fant in the first round is akin to drafting Benjamin Watson or Daniel Graham in the first. Fant is a guy who you like on paper and figure will have a nice career, but aren't there better options available at other positions? Probably.

I've changed from predicting Simmons/Tillery to thinking we're going to trade out with a QB needy team who missed out on Rosen/Haskins or Lock. Let's say Giants select a pass rusher at 6 and miss out on Lock, I reckon we give them 32 so they can take Jones or Grier. Or Skins don't trade for Rosen, use their pick on a pass rusher and try to get back into the first round for Lock (if there), Jones, Grier etc.

That's a prediction - not what I'd do (and no, I don't rate those QBs)

If someone overpays and gives us their 2020 1st rounder or several 2nd and 3rd round picks of this year I would easily do it.

Love a trade at 32. I would take 2020 1st with anything else within reason. Ex 1st and a 4th. I would also move any other picks that get us more picks in 2020.

2020 draft the Pats have made a trade the Patriots ( one of the 3)  selects

Tua Tagovailoa*, QB, Alabama

Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia

Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

Jacob Eason*, QB, Washington

K.J. Costello, QB, Stanford

Nate Stanley, QB, Iowa

Patriots brought in Baylor WR Jalen Hurd.

Holy crap just watch his clip and he has majors skills and can play RB as well. One year at WR and he leading the team!  He 6'5" and moves like a smaller player.  There saying he will go later in the draft.  BB likes him  and I have no problems taking  a chance for the diamond in the turf!

Outstanding highlights. This kid can play football. imagine when he learns the WR position. :)

I can see it now. Line him up at RB read defense  Than pass it sending him in motion create a 5 wide with the option to run !

NE can pretty much go BPA at 32. There’s no glaring weakness aside from WR/TE and those are low impact positions on the win loss score unless you’re talking about a generational talent like Gronk.

I would add OL to weakness. Pats have zero/ nada quality backups, especially both tackles. LT Achilles and Cannon one hit to IR.

I meant starters. But yes I agree with you on offensive tackle

OL will definitely get drafted inside the top 101. That's certain but I don't see it at 32.
