Not that it wasn't expected, but now we are getting some unnecessary spins of why Durant left and he felt unappreciated etc. All good, he made a grown man decision and wanted to go elsewhere. But now there's stuff out that he didn't like how he wouldn't get MVP chants or the fans always preferred Steph over him? Really? He didn't know Steph was going to be the fan favorite when he signed there? No need for none of this lol.

The Warriors won this move. Obviously, Durant is a superior player to Russell but it's unlikely that he'll ever be the same player. NYT released a report that 86% of players that tear their Achilles are out of the league within two seasons and most never return back to form. The Warriors could've been stuck paying a 34/35-year-old Durant who's a shell of his former self $50M... That's not how smart teams operate. Now they have a 23-year-old guard that showed serious potential locked up for the next 4 years and his game should really help Curry because now he can slide off the ball a lot more. If the Warriors can retain Cousins on a 1 year deal they're right back in it and will be dangerous when Klay comes back late in the season.

Nah man, you don't EVER win losing a player like Durant. He will recover better than damn near anyone with his Achilles due to his playing style. No doubt in my mind he will still be an elite force when he returns.

But getting Russell in this situation was big.

We'll see what happens. His movement at his size is what makes him so special, not sure he'll be the same after that injury. And if he does return to form it'll be a couple of years, he won't be the same when he comes back next year.

But what do you do with him? Trade him back to the east? Highest paid 6th man?

I mean for the short term you play him next to Steph and let him cook. He will be the second scorer on the team and will have the ball in his hands quite a bit. You can also stagger his and Steph's minutes where Russell is the primary ball handler in the minutes Steph sits.

And then after the season if you want to trade him? You could do that as well. If he continues off from last year, he's not going to be a hard contract to move.
