And Calvin had much better hands than Andre. There were were like 3 seasons where Dre was 1 or 2 in drops. The route route running debate I've already addressed and stated my reasons as to why he was the better of the two. As far as the better hands. You're outside your mind if you think that CJ had better hands than AJ. Both had reliable hands and neither were ever really prone to drops, but AJ literally made his living off of his hands and had some of the best of any receiver in the last 20 years (save for those such as Fitz and maybe a few others). 11 hours ago, BlaqOptic said: There were were like 3 seasons where Dre was 1 or 2 in drops. I think your remembering this wrong because it's literally the exact opposite. CJ was 1 or 2 in about 3 seasons. AJ was only tied for 2nd one-time during his prime. JAF-N72EX
In fact, just because...and yeah, I was remembering wrong as well about CJ but my point still stands. He was just so physically dominant it didn't matter. And it's statements like this that I have always had a problem with. Just because he was known for his physicality and was smart enough to how to use his size, length and strong hands, people act as if all that he ever did was position himself like a power foward in basketball and win a bunch of jump balls or take the ball out of a defenders hands. It's almost got to the point that it's become his most underrated trait.

Any time he ran a route that required those to get separation he would be covered. And again, he was so physically dominant it didn't usually matter, but he absolutely was not getting separation via his route running. Running routes has to do with more than just lateral quickness. You don't have the type of success that he had, even in short-intermediate routes, against the level of defenders that he did if he wasn't able to get separation. The only top tier defender that was able to stifle him at all was Peanut.

RandyMossIsBoss
Calvin developed into a great route runner, let's not kid ourselves. Early on though it's absolutely true that he got by purely on his insane size and speed advantage over corners. Once you reach a certain point of mastery in regards to route running, as both Calvin and Andre did, I have a hard time determining who ran routes better. However, you can certainly say Andre was an excellent route runner for longer. Answer here is Calvin, but they both deserve to be first ballot in my book (slim chance Andre is 1st ballot because of WR logjam and such, but he'll get in no doubt).
