I guess I’m against the pack since I’m actually liking this game.

I'm w/ you here as well. I thought this game was incredible. I'm near the very end of almost doing everything and have enjoyed almost all of it. A few story lines weren't the most fun to play but they were integral to the plot. I would keep playing if there was more to do but once all the stuff is checked, I can't just run around aimlessly. I need some guidance even if it's just a little bit. Likely won't finish the hardest boss though. Already given it a shot and it hasn't worked out well, at all.

Alright, I beat the game. I noticed the trophies I’m missing are all decently attainable but I’m not going for all of them. The map system in the game and collectibles having no rhyme or reason/are monotonous to track down even with a guide will prohibit me from doing the ravens and stuff so I won’t platinum it unless I’m really really bored. But anyways, the meat:

Spoiler

Thor and Odin’s death were taken out of your hands. It is what it is, but at least you got to fight Gods in this one. Instead of the last one where you fought lesser names or demigods. I didn’t really feel a connection to Faye. I liked freya. Mimir and brok and sindri really grow on you, even if sindri ended up insufferable. Atreus was less annoying in this one but also kinda more annoying. The game had a ton of story to it and took a long time to get through. As a fan of Norse and Greek mythology, it was fun for me. I don’t quite get the hate it’s received in other comments here. I thought it was quite alright and more fun for me than the last one. 8.9/10

@BobbyPhil1781 kinda funny the game came out a year ago but we both played it and were in the same spot at the same time.

Yeah, that's kinda how I operate. I only play games on weekends and later at night so I am very slow. Plus I'm cheap and don't like paying full price for games if I don't have to. FFXVI is my next project but will likely wait to play it until I can get it used at a good price on eBay lol. Might play Days Gone again to bridge the gap.

Started Returnal. Too cartoony and stale. If my biggest gripe with the last game I played was having to backtrack for stuff, playing a game that’s literally just backtracking isn’t going to be for me. I’m downloading Far Cry 6 now. I’ve seen it’s also kinda cartoony, but it was free. I liked previous far cry’s but this one doesn’t look like it’ll be great. But it was free.

If your biggest gripe is backtracking, not sure why you would try a roguelike lol.

There was no harm in trying it as it was free. I’ve been surprised by games before that I assumed I wouldn’t be into at all. And there are a few rogue like games I’ve actually liked

Spoiler

I'm guessing the hate comes from the ending and forcing you on rails for such a large portion of the game.   Me, I'm totally OK with it, because I just don't have 80+ hours to keep exploring (spoiler alert - FFXVI is excellent, but has the same on-rails element, in exchange for a knock-down banger of a story.  But I get that ppl just don't dig that type of gameplay, and when you combine it with the ending, I get that won't play nearly so well.   The thing is, nowadays we know it's going to be a trilogy - so I'm not really sure why ppl get so worked up about this.   Don't get me wrong, it makes it hard to call a game complete when there's an incomplete ending....but that's life nowadays with big franchises.

I loved Ragnorok, but I also waited and only played it before TOTK this winter.      So maybe that helps too, when you play it right away, heightened expectations are definitely a thing too.

Far Cry 6 was hard to play. I think I’m done with it. Motion sickness, bland story, bland gameplay. Just not feeling it.

I’m actually shockingly having a really good time idly playing Dysmantle. It’s an indie exploration game where you gradually level up to destroy more and more things and survive zombie attacks. There’s not a whole lot of depth to it in regards to story but it doesn’t have Stardew’s energy loss system, which is a plus.

That’s a wrap on Dysmantle. 43 hours played. Didn’t beat it but I got as far as I want to. Literally on the last mission of the game but I’d have to go back and beat all the shelters and defeating the hordes is more energy than I’m wanting to expend. It was a free ps+ game, not sure why I chose to play it since I don’t typically go for these but I had a lot of fun with it. A bit disappointed I didn’t get to unlock the last weapon that lets you destroy anything you want, but I know when to tap out. 8.3/10

•Giving Mafia Remastered a go. I played it way back when it was just a ps2 or ps3 game, but I only remember what happens in Mafia 2.

•it’s probably not that easy to sell how easily my character joined the mafia, but they couldn’t google porn on the internet then and didn’t have air conditioning, so why not become a murderous gangster

“Hey youz fawken moron, shoot at the target, not at me!” -Firearm guy shortly before telling me we are family and I can call him by his first name.

•”Ayo, Tommy. Follow my lead!” I immediately shoot out the windows of the place and fail the mission. I don’t like bein told what to do, see!

•finally let myself do the mission correctly. Have to get my vig for a dude’s loan and there’s a letter in the table saying he defaulted on a bank loan too. Some old *** lady is in the back guarding the cash envelope. I tell her she should make an only fans to pay the debt and she responds in Italian. I speak perfect Italian, but don’t really understand why she’s talking about Magic the Gathering. I don’t play. Also, this place is a bakery and it’s filled to the brim with baked goods. If they’re truly going through that many in a day, what are the loans for

•the car horn in this game is so incomprehensibly annoying that I spend my whole drive laying on it. Its even worse if you quick tap it. It’s led to me not knowing mission details and also crashing into other cars but it just feels right. There’s nothing more gangster than being annoying as ****.

•thought James Dean on a motorcycle would move after hearing my incessant horn beeping, he didn’t. His shirt sleeve cigarettes are now all over this country road. There wasn’t another car out here for like 5 minutes but halfway through that, another mobbie in the car screeches: “Lose the cops, Tommy”. There are no cops. There are no cars, a**hole.

•there’s a mission part where you sit in the car while your co-goon roughs up the shop owner. You can’t see anything but yourself at the car, but there’s a 2 minute motionless scene where you’re just sitting in the car listening to a shop keeper getting the **** kicked out of him.
