Vrabel never worked under Belichick though.

I think they're going for the same thing though.  A leader type with a winning pedigree and that players will love, then have X's and O's guys as coordinators.

Vrabel, as a DC, is one of the worst, so his resume to coach isn't really much better than Mayo's.

I don't think it's the best way to go about searching for a coach, and I was skeptical as hell when Vrabel was hired, but it clearly can work.

They just came from the "hire-an-elite-coordinator-and-give-him-the-reins" approach, so I can't fault them for wanting to go a different direction.

Quinn would feel like such an underwhelming hire for them, IMO.

He's a great DC and players seem to love playing for him. As long as they make a good hire at OC they should be fine.

They have the talent, they just need a captain who has been there done that who can steer the ship--much like John Fox in the Tebow-Manning years.

Dan Quinn sucks so I hope that is all smoke on the water

Dan Quinn was the DC of the Legion of Boom in Seattle who singlehandedly won the SB, then he went to Atlanta as a HC and took them to a SB, now he is the DC of Dallas and took that unit from being the worst in the NFL to one of the best in the NFL this season in just 1 season.

I would say he is a pretty darn good coach and can get guys to perform at peak level. The only question is can he hire the right guy on offense to call the plays ala Kyle Shannahan in ATL.

Being a great DC means nothing to me at this point. All that holds salt is his experience as a HC and when he lost Kyle Shanahan, he sucked. The whole time.

Here's the thing...all of the available guys with HC experience are jobless for a reason or there is a reason they are now coordinators.
