Special Teams: 3

K - Elliot

Greg Ward

Sua Opeta

K'Von Wallace

Noah Ellis

Tyree Jackson

Britain Covey

Josh Jobe

Mario Goodrich

Mac McCain

Patrick Johnson

Marlon Tuipulotu

Jacoby Stevens

Josh Sills

Position Battle to watch :

CB - How many CBs will the Eagles keep? Slay, Bradberry, Maddox are 100% locks to make the squad. McPhearson is a 99% lock to be the 4th CB. There may only be one spot open for Moreland, Gowan, Scott, Vincent, McCain, Goodrich and Jobe to compete for or maybe 2 spots maximum. It will be interesting to see who can standout from that group.

Bold = 2022 draft pick

Italics = Free Agent/Trade acquisition

Underlined = UDFA

Only way we carry 6WR IMO is if they think they can place Calcaterra on the PS and get away with it?

6 WR

4 RB

3 TE

Most likely can't happen unless Minshew is traded.

I dont think our punter is currently on roster.

I do think they trade Reagor he is useless as a special teams player can't roster him. Covey does punt and kick returns for us.

You are probably right about the punter. I'm just going by who's currently on the roster and this is just an very early projection. Covey is a good point though. I kind of blanked on him. I do think he's got a very good shot of making the roster as like a WR5/6 and Return Specialist.

While I appreciate Ward but I don't see him as a lock at all. I think he has an uphill battle to make the team this year. Brown, Smith, Pascal, and Watkins are all locks. Ward will have to beat out Reagor and/or Covey to make the team and I just think unless Reagor is traded that the Eagles will keep him for another year.

Notes:

  • Not sure if I went over the amount of "veterans" for the practice squad, but I'm too lazy to verify and make sure they all qualify.

  • I have Jack Anderson who we claimed off the Bills practice squad as the last OL making it. It was reported last year that the Bills were not happy that the Eagles signed him off their practice squad cause they wanted Anderson to wait until they could get him back on the 53. He played pretty well in that week 18 game against the Cowboys starters at guard and center after Toth went down with an ACL injury. It was between him and Toth for that last spot. The reason I went with Anderson is he's a little more than 2 years younger and not coming off a major injury. I have us putting Toth on PUP to start the year and maybe we trade Dillard and then it frees us up to put Toth back on the 53 as a back-up tackle with inside versatility.

  • Chose Vincent for the last corner spot over Scott, cause he can back-up at nickel corner and has safety versatility.

  • Picked Blankenship to make the roster as the last safety over Wallace. I'm just about done with the K'Von experiement. He's gonna have to prove to me he can stay healthy and flash enough to make the roster. Blankenship was a great special teams player and we need more of those on this roster.

  • Out of the veterans I had making it like Greg Ward (great team/vet guy who you know what you're getting), Clark (they held onto him last year and I think he played solid in the last game of the season),  Rodgers (best blocking TE after Goedert... could call him up for a game here or there when we are going more run heavy), Wallace (solid special teams guy and we drafted him... so we'll prob hang on for another year). I also included JJAW as a cheat (did it a few times) behind Rodgers possibly as getting that spot, cause he's younger, but we'll have to see how much he bulks up and how he is blocking inline versus as a WR. If he can show he can hold up blocking pretty well inline he'll probably have the edge over Rodgers, but I gotta see it first.

  • Shaun Bradley was probably our best special teams player last year and that's why he made the roster.

  • I felt like I had to chose between one of the two Johnsons for a spot on the 53. I think Patrick can be a solid ST player, but I think Kyron has the chance to be a special teams ace. He may over less stoutness against the run, but he's a more dynamic athlete for sure and I just like his upside and don't want to risk losing him off the practice squad. Plus, just from watching his interviews since becoming an Eagles I'm a big fan of the person. I'm gonna be rooting hard for the guy. I put Johnson along with Fayad on the practice squad as extra SLBs to carry and keep developing.

  • Have Calcaterra making the 3rd TE spot with Jackson being on the PUP list to start the year and him probably already as a rookie being the best receiving threat at TE behind Goedert. He isn't much of a blocker which kind of sucks, but it sounded like from the pressers where Sirianni mentioned him as the F-TE that they have a plan to move him around like he was used in college.

  • I'm pretty down on Reagor as it stands from where I was pre-draft obviously, but I can tell just from his Instagram stories it seems like he's been trying to put in a lot of work this off-season and I'm expecting him to come into camp in much better shape than last year. That doesn't mean I believe he'll necessarily turn into a player, but he has more upside than whoever we could throw on the roster as WR5. Reagor also can be a pretty good punt returner in a pinch if he cuts down on the muffs. He averaged a really high average at it in college. Plus, I just don't see Howie cutting Jalen since he was a 1st round pick and wants to probably give him at least one more year to show if he can salvage him for the last couple years of his rookie deal. It's more likely if he doesn't show up in camp this year to make the roster that he's traded to some team for a player or late round pick swap than he is straight up cut.

  • I have Greg Ward as possibly one of the vets stickign on the practice squad this year, but it isn't a guarantee. He's solid on short to intermediate stuff, but Covey has more juice as a receiver and definitely as a returner where he was really good for Utah. I'd kinda be surprised if Covey isn't on the PS after final cuts. Covey isn't much younger than Ward as he's only like 1.75 years younger (already 25 y/o), so being a rookie doesn't give him a big advantage age wise, but his return skills do.

  • With the increase in 3-4 looks we'll see this season I think Elliss as a true NT is valuable on the practice squad just incase Davis goes down with an injury. The other DTs I just listed together, cause they'll likely be fighting for 1 practice squad spot.

  • Eagles seemed to really like Awosika as a developmental OL as they kept him on the practice squad all year and going into this season. The last OL I had making the practice squad is Josh Sills who had starting experience at ALL 5 offensive line spots at Oklahoma State. He has powerful hands and not great, but solid athleticism for a big guy. I think his versatility is what is gonna get him on that practice squad though. When you are a guy trying to hang on to one of the last 53 spots or on the practice squad the more you can do becomes that much more important.
