biggie.
I think Minnesota will be a playoff team. O'Connell has that "McVay effect" in the sense that he gives the team a breath of fresh air that reinvigorates them. BayRaider
Out of the current teams being projected to win less than 9 games: Vikings - Wildcard Team (Projected win total 8.5) Could see: 11-6 Record Raiders - Wildcard Team (Projected win total 8.5) Could see: 11-6 Record More of a longshot but could absolutely see happening: Washington - Division Winner or Wildcard (Projected win total 7.5) Could see: 10-7 Record I really like Washington’s roster. Defense can easily have a bounce back year, let’s not forget they were the 2nd best defense in the entire NFL in 2020. They will be healthy this year, with a bit more pieces added. Also McLaurin, Dotson, Samuel, Logan Thomas, and Antonio Gibson is a pretty good offense IMO. Wentz is also a ridiculously massive upgrade over the QB’s they’ve recently had. Even if Wentz is just average, they could easily make the playoffs. Teams projected to win 9 or more games did not qualify for my list. ///mcompact
Well, going by one of the threads about "teams that are overhyped", this team wouldn't be a "surprise" for this forum, but it really should. I'll just say it and don't care: Broncos. I think they're going to humble some of those AFCW teams.

Broncos are projected to win like 11 games this year, only people really sleeping on them is this forum. They are not a “surprise” team.

They are not a “surprise” team. It's national too, they are currently projected to be 3rd in the AFCW by Vegas. They are definitely one of those teams that everyone was super high on when they got Russ and Gregory because people spend 4 years saying "if they just have a QB they are a SB contender" Since then, They have become the popular team for talking heads to pick to finish last in the division or out of the playoffs after they spent weeks going crazy at how good they were when they got Russ. Their O/U is 10.5, the same as the Chargers and Chiefs.
NYRaider
Lions pushing for the playoffs wouldn't shock me. They have a new offensive coordinator who in theory will be an upgrade over Lynn. Goff has shown that he is still about average with a good supporting cast around him. The Lions will have one of the best OLs in the NFL, Swift/Williams is a solid RB duo, and Williams/ASB/Chark/Hockenson is a solid group of pass catchers. Which could actually be a very good group of pass catchers if Williams is healthy and ASB/Hockenson take a step forward. Defensively McNeil showed promise at NT at the end of the season, Brockers is solid, and they added Hutchinson/Paschall and ideally 2021 second round pick Levi Onwuzurike can take a step up. Off the edge they're bringing back Harris who had 7.5 sacks plus they get back Okwara who had 10.5 sacks the last year he was healthy for them. They also get back Okudah after he missed last season with an injury and added two solid pieces to the secondary in Elliot and Joseph. Doesn’t matter if they are projected third, still projected to win 10-11 games, not really a surprise team.
HerbertGOAT
I'll take the Vikes as well. The team has a ton of talent, and maybe O'Connell can unlock Kirk's abilities.
BStanRamFan
Colts could be #1 seed in AFC if Buffalo stumbles at all and the AFC West beats the hell out of each other. I got Ryan as a darkhorse MVP Candidate 40-1 Vikings could win the NFC North (+280) and have an explosive offense in a weak division.

Isn't every team in the AFCW projected at 9.5-11 wins? Just seems like a way for Vegas to make a lot of money off of people gambling with their own rooting interests in mind. Which is actually a nice compliment to the Broncos considering the Chiefs/Chargers are bringing back the same QB, same staff, etc. And the Broncos have a new staff and new QB. The Colts can definitely get the #1 seed just because of how soft their schedule is, IIRC they have like the 5th easiest schedule in the NFL.
