NCAA Basketball Thread (2023-24)

With Valparaiso football playing New Mexico State today, I should bring up the fact that Valpo men's basketball has had a rich tradition as one of the better mid-major programs since 1996 despite falling off since joining the MVC.

Conference realignment is in full swing, and I've proposed a new conference that would be an upgrade for current WCC power Gonzaga that would also include Valpo.

It would be a result of a split of the Big East along geographic lines. The five Midwestern members of that conference - Butler, Creighton, DePaul, Marquette, and Xavier - would be the core of the new conference. They would invite A-10 members Dayton, Loyola (Chicago), and Saint Louis, along with Detroit Mercy of the Horizon League, Gonzaga and Saint Mary's from the WCC, and Valparaiso from the MVC to form a new largely Midwestern (with two of the top programs from the WCC as well) basketball-focused conference of comparable strength to the Big Ten that could replace such on ESPN.

The Big East would regroup by adding Duquesne, La Salle, and Saint Joseph's from the A-10 and Iona from the MAAC.

Kent St and Charleston are both really good. Kent St taking another top team to the wire. Zags were a 16 pt fav which was very bad.

finally someone that isnt a casual that knows that Kent St is a very good team.  People making fun of Houston and Zaga for playing them close.  It's a reason they are projected to win the MAC and make the playoffs.
