It was being reported Wednesday that Allen was starting.

From what the broadcast crew was saying before the game, Allen split reps with Mills 50/50 all week. According to Allen himself, he wasn't told until Friday that he was going to be the starter. Possible that Coach Smith wanted to evaluate both. But Allen didn't look prepared in the first half. Definitely have to wonder if the lack of clarity with who would be starting would have to do with that.

Thank the lord its not a tear. Hope he doesn't miss too many games

If this is true, that is the best news we could have realistically hoped for.  Shell was absolutely abused at LT when he moved over.  I didn't think Jackson was nearly as bad as the rest of you.  Shell at LT was the weak link of that OL.  Of course, Jackson left with another injury himself so Greg Little joins the mix.  Sigh.  Didn't want to deal with that the week before you face Nick Bosa.

Better to have the liability on the left than the right. The right is the Blind side since Tua is left handed. Hopefully with a week of practice Shell will be better prepared but it’s not easy switching from RT to LT and vice versa.

They were both bad and weak links but Shell was passable at RT in the few games he played there. Jackson does not play well wherever he is on the line, way too often is he overpowered or beat of the snap. In his 3rd year in the league that should not happen as often anymore, he's not starting caliber at this point. Going to be a rough patch of games until Armstead comes back

Yeah, I was talking about Shell at LT.  He's passable at RT.  He's Eichenburg level bad at LT.
