2023 Off-season Talk

So came down here to FL for 11 days. A family member is getting married in Tampa. And going to Disney World Sunday to Sunday.

Why does any of this matter?… a friend of ours works in the FO for the Jets. I never see the guy being I live in TX. And I don’t like to bug him with Jets stuff throughout the year and he next to never gives me any insider info (he has a few times). But he came in town for the wedding. Yesterday we all went golfing and on the 19th hole, football came up. I never bring it up, I let him decided if he wants to talk about it.

And without getting the guy in trouble or anything……

All I’ll say is I put $1,500 on Rodgers being a Jet next year at +650 this morning after our talks. If he’s a Jet… I win $9,750

Always fun hearing this stuff lol.

I happened to be at a golf simulator next to Dan Orlovsky last week, overheard him talking about how the Jets really want Rodgers.. some brief mention of Jimmy G.

I might follow suit on that bet. When/if Rodgers becomes available I think it's fairly obviously we'll be all-in. Woody is desperate for a star, jobs are on the line and Rodgers is the perfect fit without having to fully abandon Wilson (which despite fanfare, Douglas isn't ready to do).

I wanted to hop on the bet after I got info. To get in before any info leaked to change the odds.

My disclaimer is I’m ok losing $1500 or else I never would’ve bet it. But obviously if I bet it I have great confidence. But for others don’t bet just bc I did. Because if he doesn’t join I don’t want the blame. 😉

So bet at your own risk and what dollar amount you’re ok losing. That’s always a good guideline. Or an amount your wife won’t flip at you losing 😉

Too late I bet way too much. I have been on a hot streak. I will throw a few 100's on it. My odds are better here than say the casino or a NCAA basketball game. I NEVER bet on the NBA. Guys don't want to play and when they do play it is half not full go.

On baseball, football and ncaa football. I stay away from NBA, NHL and NCAA basketball.

SB won me $5k. I went big on the over and that hit.

All good if you don't want to say, but did your friend indicate there was interest from Rodgers or just the Jets hellbent on getting it done?

Without saying too much… he made it sound like they won’t miss out on him. And kind of had a smirk on his face like the FO already knows something. Which for me fell in-line with Woody having that smirk on his face about 10 days ago when asked about Rodgers.

Compensation and all never came up. Not sure if that’s just because he didn’t want to share, or if he doesn’t know.

There were more details. But I can’t share those.

Bobby Wagner a FA. Made significantly less than Mosley last year and is just flat out better in every way. Cut CJ sign Wagner, draft a guy to take over in a year or two and we save much needed money. This is a no brainer.

i disagree here. They are about the same in my book and maybe Mosley is a little better. You guys don't understand how hard it is to get a good MLB that runs the D. You lose Mosley this D takes a step back and that to me is not worth it.

Wags is like a 6 time first team all pro MLB who graded out 21+ points better than CJ last year (yeah is PFF). Mosley can't hold Wagners jock. No way in hell does this D take a step back with this trade off. Wagner is an elite first ballot HOF MLB whose played in 2 super bowls. I don't even think they are on the same wave length. We'd actually be able to stop the run with Wagner.

He’s only going to a win now team. So we have to get Rodgers or Carr for him to even consider us. He’s chasing another ring. Not money.

Part of my point. He was making $10m last year and has played with Saleh before. It saves us money for a better LBer.

Idk anything about golf but isn't there only 18 holes? The ENTIRE credibility of your post relies on this answer!!

(I'm kidding, thanks for sharing. I think this all ultimately still depends on what Rodgers decides to do but if he's available I expect him to be a Jet as well).
