Thats 11 guys who you think we can squeeze regular at bats into 9 spots? Feels like someone is getting left out. And that’s not even talking about our actual backups and some other prospects making some noise.

Without hesitation.  Juan Yepez has done nothing to justify giving him 600 ABs, and especially not over someone who is viewed a a consensus top 10 prospect.  Paul DeJong is our backup MIF, or at least he should be as long as Tommy Edman produces and Nolan Gorman hasn't shown he's a bust.  The only "open" spot in our lineup is catcher.

And Gorman has? You love sticking to a prospect ranking, that doesn’t fly for me once you’ve gotten significant time in the majors.

Sure Gorman has higher upside, but upside and a .200 Average will get you sent right back to the minors

If they are all still here, sure Gorman is going to get more chances than Yepez, but to pretend he has “proven” anything more than others is just drinking prospect kool aid at this point

I've heard us most connected to Carlos Rodon and Nathan Eovaldi on the pitching front.

Seems like we want the rentals here, as they wont cost as much, hopefully.

Albert Pujols, Yadier Molina, Corey Dickerson, Nick Wittgren and Drew VerHagen for Carlos Rodon.....who says no?

In 210 PA, Gorman has a 117 wRC+ and .331 wOBA while Yepez has a 113 wRC+ and .325 wOBA in 228 PA.  One is a 1B/DH-only, and the other is a 2B/3B.  There's not even a comparison here.  Inherently, Gorman is quite a bit more valuable.

And it's not about "proving" more, it's about getting the most production out of any position.  If he qualified, Yepez would be 13th in wRC+ among all DHs (17th among all 1B).  Nolan Gorman would be 11th among all 2B if he qualified in wRC+.

As I’ve said. We’ve got two packages on the table. And the Nats think they can push to combine them how they like. And that’s just not going to happen.

Id imagine both offers include Gorman and Liberatore, probably Burleson as well. The difference is probably Carlson vs Walker/Winn and then the level of final throw in depending on who they pick of that trio, somewhere on the scale of Graceffo to Woodford.

Do you really look at all the numbers you posted and actually see a tangible difference there? This is not about saying Yepez is better for this lineup than Gorman, it’s to point out that Gorman isn’t out here lighting the world on fire.

And if we are saying Gorman is long term viable at 2B, then Yepez would qualify as OF too.

Just saying there’s more Brett Wallace in there than many want to admit
