Did we make Detroit over pay like Minny did with us ? Using the value chart moving from 48 to 45 should cost 30 points and the Lions gave up 26.6 points. Moving from 50 to 48 should cost 20 points and the Buccaneers gave up 18.2 points. The Packers gave up 50 points in value and got back in return 36.8 points in value, but there is more to this big picture wise than just the point values. From the Packers side, if they were going to take Reed at pick number 45 yet felt they could take the lesser trade offers and still get the same player then they gained an extra 5th and 6th to use later for free. Now if they use one of those two picks to move up today to get a player they covet that they otherwise would have not gotten, well then, the shortcomings on the point values are more than made up for. Or they draft players and one of the lottery style picks end up the next Aaron Jones or even John Runyan then it was well worth it also. It's all about the big picture.
PackFan13
They asked if the trades down still still got their guy and they just said they felt good with multiple guys on their board. Why not just lie and say he was your guy all along haha

craig
Using the Rich Hill chart, both trades were both spot-on in point values. I don't keep up with the most up-to-date charts. Rich Hill chart is probably outdated by now, I assume. https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart-Rich-Hill.asp
craig
I think you never know what other teams might want. You can be pretty confident, but *IF* you're going to trade down, you need to have some coverage just in case somebody snags your guy. We received 159 (431). An excess of 399 points = pick 169 surplus 48 (1038) -> 50 (1018) = 20 pts. We received 179 (371). An excess of 351 points = pick 186 surplus

Doesn't seem aligned with what teams actually do.

R T
At the time I'm guessing most thought it was no big deal, but in the end...
