don't see why we'd do that now, the only two draftable kickers got taken

That could be.  Most of the players available have UDFA grades anyway.  I think you spend this pick just so you don't have to compete to get them.  I think they Syracuse Kicker had some hype (if that's a thing for kickers)

This draft is shaping up rather nicely for the Kings of the Jungle.  In past drafts, we are used to having to swing for players who have to be starters right now because the depth was always so sub-par that being the first or second-round pick meant that you needed to be a starter from day one, now we are in a place where as Lions fans we are simply not used to and that is drafting for depth, drafting for development, drafting on potential and not instant production, this is a new era for us all and we are somewhat taken aback by some of the picks and where they were taken but it's not about where the players were drafted but rather did we get better as a team, did we secure depth at positions that were lacking in overall talent, did we strengthen positions that were good to great and make them great to elite, did we bring in young men who are going to be about ball, who are going to buy into the MCDC style, culture, and mindset, did we shed problem areas that caused us depth issues (RB)?  The answers to all of those questions are a resounding yes.  So when it comes down to the only negative argument people or analysts have about the draft as being where they were selected I say look at the whole picture, see the plan and where everyone fits and how that is going to push the lesser players out or make them work harder either way draft placement is moot, I care about the overall picture.  I can guarantee you there are players under contract right now with the Lions that are thinking I better get to work, I better show up and show out because my days of feeling comfortable and secure due to the depth chart issues are long gone.  This team did nothing but get better, create legit competition, and show the rest of the league that we are coming, we are hunting, and the Lombardi is the only thing we hunger for.

I agree completely.

Look at the and ask yourself, are the Lions better than last year?

I think we still need to upgrade our WR corps.  Is there vet we can trade for?  I think AT Perry is still available which isn't a bad dart throw at this point.
