Week 1: Texans @ Ravens

I'll reserve judgement until we aren't playing a team starting 4 backup OL but Oweh looked better than he did last year, and Ojabo had the nice FF play (despite it being on a 3rd string RT). Clowney is who he's always been (can get pressure but can't finish plays for the life of him). They seem content with using Queen as a blitzer a ton this year which I like. Madubuike had some good rushes but he needs to chill with the penalties.

Overall WRs looked good when they actually got the ball. OL looked bad. Ronnie played maybe the worst game i've seen from him. MOF coverage looked sus on a few occasions. Hopefully Marcus isn't out awhile. Hamilton is a dude. Roquan is a monster.

Hey my pregame random predictions weren't that far off:

Quote

Random Predictions:

  • Nelson Agholor 2 TDs didn't catch a pass yikes this was a bad one
  • Texans finish with more sacks than the Ravens we ended with 5 and they ended with 4, pretty close
  • Kyle Hamilton first career INT nope
  • Offense turns the ball over on the first drive we turned it over on the 2nd drive, pretty close
  • Texans rush for less than 70 yards as a team texans ran for 72, pretty close
  • Ravens win 29-13 25-9, exact same margin, pretty damn close final scores

The Good:

  1. The defense, and especially Queen and Ro were amazing today
  2. 4th down defense in particular was really strong.
  3. Zay Flowers is a freaking STUD
  4. Jordan Stout was BOOMING some punts today

The Bad:

  1. Offensive line...wow these guys were awful today in all phases. We had maybe 2.5 ypc if you take away Lamar's scramble yardage. That's awful against a defensive line that features literally nobody.
  2. Lamar - Countless times double-pumping throws, throwing off his back foot across his body (the INT), being completely careless with the football.
  3. The entire offense, actually. People say pre-season doesn't matter but the lack of ANY reps in the preseason for these guys clearly showed. And now you can't even say resting people keeps them healthy! There's a fine line between unnecessary reps and being completely rusty.
  4. Penalties - 13(?) penalties, most of them were just completely stupid and dumb stuff. Again, no preseason, everyone's rusty.

The Ugly

  1. The injuries. We can afford to lose JK (as tough as that is), but losing Marcus Williams, Stanley and possibly Linderbaum might just sink this team before we ever even get started.

Lamar's been this way for a few years now. Does not want to scramble, and he's openly said that. This type of thing works against his best strengths.

Seems kind of sketch for a defender to talk about about getting an advantage making their job easier when you would have definitely gotten well over 30 dropped on you without unforced errors by the offense.
