Lancaster Offense:

We are going to get back to our ground and pound ways this week, keeping the ball on the ground and grinding out the clock to keep playmakers like Tyreek Hill on the sideline as much as possible. We want a roughly 50/50 run/pass split. We want to attack the outside where their edges are vulnerable and force their linebackers to do the work in stopping them. This also helps us avoid running right at Gotham’s formidable interior defensive line. We’ll have a lot of shotgun option looks for Hurts and Gibbs to take advantage of both of their playmaking abilities. We want defenses to be forced to account for either of them on any given play. As usual, Hurts will be given the greenlight to scramble as a passer as well, again forcing Gotham to always account for him. Allgeier will spell Gibbs and act as a short yardage guy for us. We’re expecting a 70/30 split. We will use the running game to churn out the clock and tire the opposing defense while keeping our own fresh.

As we establish the running game, this should help our passing game as we plan to run a fair amount of play action. This should open up passing lanes for us as well as force the defensive line to play a bit more conservatively. We want our passing game to eat up the clock as well so we want to attack the short and intermediate parts of the field with quick, play action passes. With Juwan Johnson back and healthy, we want to use him and Gibbs to help attack the linebackers in the passing game as well. We’ll have them chip occasionally as well, although we’re more worried about the interior pass rush than the outside.

Lancaster Defense:

We know that Gotham is going to play a lot of 4 wide receiver base and so we will be ready for that this week. While it’s unclear if Jaire Alexander is going to play this week or not, we are expecting to get Jalen Ramsey back which will be a big boost for us. Knowing that Gotham is going to be spread out and passing a lot, we want to focus our defensive line on getting after the quarterback and pressuring Dak, forcing him into mistakes.

With our corners mostly healthy and hopefully all playing, we are going to run mostly man coverage. We want to run a bit of press sprinkled throughout the game as well to disrupt the timing of the offensive weapons. If everyone is healthy, Jaire Alexander will cover Tyreek Hill with help from Minkah Fitzpatrick over the top. Jalen Ramsey will cover Tee Higgins, Brandon Stephens will cover Christian Kirk and Tyrique Stevenson will cover Adam Thielen. If Alexander isn’t healthy, Ramsey will cover Hill, Stevenson will cover Higgins, and Dane Jackson will come in and cover Thielen. Fred Warner will be responsible for Bijan Robinson both in coverage and in terms of playing the run. Keanu Neal will be playing in the box as a Dak spy and middle of the field zone cover guy, occasionally blitzing. We trust our corners to hold up against the passing attack, especially if our defensive line gets as much pressure as we think they will. If a tight end is brought in for a wide receiver, Stevenson will come out and Willie Gay Jr. will come in and cover the tight end.

Bijan is a great talent at running back but we think with Gotham’s offensive line being banged up, Fred Warner keyed in on him, and Keanu Neal as an extra man in the box, we should be able to slow him sufficiently. We have a really strong defensive line rotation and we want to use that to our advantage. We want to regularly rotate players out to keep everyone fresh. Our defensive line’s goal this week is to get after the QB constantly. We expect Gotham to try to utilize quick passing looks to counteract the pressure, so we want to press the receivers at the line to disrupt the timing and give our guys more time to get home.

Gotham

We continue our BDL season this week with a visit from one of our very good friends and old mentor in Rackcs. All of this is his fault and we plan to take it out on him once again.

Offense:
No team has yet fielded a secondary that can defend our spread offense despite resistance from the general perception. We stick to our truths and we don’t care about the ultimate result.
The Lancaster secondary, like every team in BDL, cannot defend all four of our WRs. We will spread them out and win at all levels in the pass game. Tyreek Hill will once again be our primary target and he will get the ball on all types of routes, especially those specifically designed to free him up from inevitable safety help.
Our remaining WRs will get targets based on matchups. Dak Prescott is a solid professional QB and he can certainly identify single coverage with terrible corners.
Bijan Robinson will feature once again and get spelled as necessary. We will keep using draws and screens to our RB to counteract inevitable aggression.

Defense:
Similar to last week, we are going to keep it simple and let our superior talent win this game.
We will play heavy man coverage across the board. There really isn’t anything to say here with our cornerbacks simply being better than the Lancaster receivers. We will rotate in some zone coverages to stay unpredictable and better defend against some QB runs.
Our front will be aggressive with an average of 4.7 or so rushers per play. We trust our man coverage on the back end, and thus we will push a 5 man rush heavily. We expect to lose some yardage to Hurts’ runs, but we will counteract this with offensive points and the occasional zone coverage call in spots where we feel a run is likely.

Going Lancaster. Like the plan to keep the ball out of Gotham’s offenses hands. Eat up TOP, and Gibbs and Hurts is a dangerous duo. The return of Ramsey was huge for Lancaster and with Tyson Campbell out I would have liked to see the assigning of Sauce on Pittman but Lancaster could very easily put Pittman on the other side. I’m not sure as neither team mentions it so won’t factor into my voting here. 4.7 or so rushers per play was intriguing.

I honestly have no idea what to do here.  Lancaster wants to run outside with two awful tackles, but Gotham has  one starting IRL LB.  I can see Demarcus Lawrence having a field day in this one as will Theilan in the slot against a guy who has never played there in Stevenson.  On the other side, i think the agression works .  I would have loved Gotham to just stick Sauce on Pittman all game as he's the only WR producing for Lancaster right now.  Unfortunately I can't assume that.  I think Gibbs is going to get some big chunk plays against this LB crew in the passing game and a couple in the run game as the heavy blitz can definitely come back to bite Gotham in the outside running game if it includes pitches.  I'm going to have to come back later
