So this was supposed to be the day Chargers hired Greg Roman...and crickets.

Could it be that Harbaugh only wants Roman as run game specialist / assistant coach?

If that's the case.....I see only 1 reason why Chargers haven't announced their OC search - the guy wasn't available yet.

There's only 2 guys that fit the bill until today - Eric Bienemy & Brian Griese (Kubiak's obv gone to NO, and no I don't take Nagy seriously).

Maybe they announce Roman tomorrow, but the longer this goes, the more you have to give credence to the idea Roman isn't the de facto OC.

I don’t want Bienemy either. The amount of drop backs he did with Howell and nearly got him killed was not what I want to see with Herbert. It feels like the antithesis of what Harbaugh wants also. Still hoping for the below:

I get it, but at this stage the whole drawn out timeline with Roman is getting really curious.

Engstrad would be a little curious to have as OC AND Marcus Brady as pass game coordinator, though, but no objections.   I think he'd have the highest potential to unlock Herbert's elite ceiling.

At this point, I'm starting to think Harbaugh is going to hire 3-4 guys including Roman, and put them all into a locked room, throw in 1 headset, and say "the guy who comes out with the headset is the OC...no questions asked".

My money would be on Brady's quickness, but a bear like EB would have a shot.

Was the Glenn " interview" part of  satisfying the Rooney rule?

It depends on if they had an in person interview with any other external minority candidates before going to Detroit. Need at least two before being able to hire a HC.

So the Marcus Brady as pass game coordinator is the other hire that makes zero sense. If you look at his previous stops….

Its also hard to say his Indy stats are too meaningful when you are looking at the QBs and WRs he had to deal with. I'd rank him simply as ??? simply as Harbaugh has a solid track record with coaching hires. The pass blocking metrics would be my biggest concern but even thats tricky to suss out as we don't know if he sucked at designing blocking schemes, if the line was hurt or if Reich/someone else had control of the line and called whatever mismash of blocking that didn't jive with the playcall (which happens more than one would think).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not excited for Brady but I'm not going to really react too much to a passing game coordinator hire.

It’s official. Better than a Kliff or Bienemy hire IMO. But still the most meh of Harbaugh’s staff choices. Still so confused about all the weird reporting leading up to this announcement.
