Gameplans

Seoul Dragons

Offense:

Formation/Scheme:
 2WR/2TE(50%) , 3WR/1TE(50%)
West Coast passing game, set up with zone rushing attack.
Pass (55%), Run (45%)

Blocking:
Danielle Hunter will be the focus this week in the passing game,  we’ll look to chip him early and often with our TE’s.   Zone blocking in the running game, we look to create cut back opportunities from Raleigh’s DL looking to penetrate.  Our OL’s strength is blocking on the move, so we want to get them moving and let our RB’s use their excellent vision.

Passing game:
We’re looking to come out and throw the ball around more this week.   Levels concepts on the inside and outside, despite some struggles, Carr is still very efficient at finding the open guy with levels concepts.   We look to flood the short and middle passing game and let Carr find the holes in Raleigh’s zone defense.    Kenneth/Javonte will look to provide a chip on the outside, while escaping as a delayed check down option.   We want to keep the reads pretty simple for Carr, we trust him against zone coverages but not to force anything.   He has his check down options, and we are more than happy to let Walker and Williams create YAC as check down options.  Between our RB’s, TE’s, Tank, Cooks and Pickens we like our playmakers in open space and think we think can they can spring some big plays with YAC opportunities.

Running game:
We will attack Raleigh with outside zone concepts this week.   We want to keep the Raleigh edge group focused on run defense and wear them down.   Javonte and Kenneth will split snaps 50/50 and see touches in both the running and passing game.  We will ride the hot hand this week, if one of them gets in the groove we will ride the hot hand and let them take control of the ball game.  We want to test the Raleigh LB group and make them make plays in open space.

Goal #1 -   Let Carr eat up the zone defenses when given the opportunity.
Goal #2  -  Stay true to Seoul football, and don’t abandon the run.
Goal #3 -   Let our TE’s and RB’s create YAC in the passing game.

Defense:
Base: 4-2 Nickel
Subpackage: 4-1 Strong Dime

Subpackage Alignment
DE  Charles Omenihu  //  Sam Williams
DL: Dexter Lawrence  /   Khalen Saunders
DL:  DJ Reader   //   Foley Fatukasi
Edge: Dayo Odeyingbo  //  BJ Ojulari
LB:  Markquese Bell
Rover:  Daxton HIll
CB: Trent McDuffie
CB: Donte Jackson
NB:  Kenny Moore
FS: Bryan Cook
SS:  Kerby Joseph

Pass Coverage:
We will come out in heavy coverage this week.  Mixture between Cover 2/3/6.   We want to keep our defenders eyes towards the QB and prevent explosive plays from Kyler and Christian.   Prevent the big play and rally to the ball.  We will look to play tight on the outside in our zone coverages.   Sub packages we look to move Dax and Bell down in the box.   We might be light in the running game, but we have a lot of faith in the Front 4 to keep them clean.    Dax and Bell will spotlight McCaffrey and Kyler, we want the edges to play disciplined football and rally McCaffrey/Murray into Dax and Bell.

Pass Rush:
Stay true to our rush lanes on the outside,  do not let Murray create highlights outside the pocket.   Push the interior, but stay disciplined.  We want Murray to feel the rush, but not sell out for sacks.   Let’s make Murray play patiently in the pocket and force him to deliver the football consistently to his playmakers.

Run Defense:

We’re playing disciplined on the Front 4 and we are stout at both Edge and DL in the run game.   DL will be focused on holding their gaps and letting our stout stack LB’s bring down the ball carriers.

Goal#1:   Contain Kyler/McCaffrey,  force inside to our help.
Goal#2:  Zone on the back end,  rally and tackle.
Goal#3:  Trust Bell and Dax’s athleticism and tackling to control Murray/McCaffrey highlight plays.

Raleigh Firebirds

OFFENSE:

Base formation: 2WR, 2RB, 1 TE

Run/Pass Ratio: 55% run 45% pass

3rd and Long formation and substitutions: Augmented 5 wide with McCaffrey and Andrews acting as WR’s. Atwell replaces Hunt

Short Yardage Formation and substitutions: 12 personnel, sub out Hunt or  for Donald Parham for an extra blocker

Redzone Formation and Substitutions: 21 personnel. Sub Thomas and replacing with Hunt or Hubbard

Offensive Focus Players: Christian McCaffrey, Mark Andrews, Diontae Johnson

Run Game Philosophy: We don’t want to over work Kyler coming back from injury plus he needs his Call of Duty time, so Bryce is back under center. Lots of RPO’s and screens to the backs for easy completions

Pass Game Philosophy

Heavy play action and RPO to open up space for our weapons in the pass game. Either McCaffrey and/or Hunt can be split out at any point to also create mismatches in space.

Additional Information:

Hunt/McCaffrey when on the field together, one will flex out as a WR to give multiplicity to the offense. Use Keaton Mitchell’s explosiveness as a change up to hit big plays with attention going to McCaffrey

DEFENSE:

Base formation and coverage: 4-2-5; cover 2 shell/Cover 4. 3 Safety base.

Pressure Rate: Low blitz. Rely on front 4 to win and create pressure. Heavy rotation of all d-line to keep players fresh.

3rd and Long formation and substitutions: 4-1-6; Replace Quay Walker with Troy Hill Sub Brandon Graham at DT for Alim McNeill

Short Yardage Formation and substitutions:5-2-4. Sub in Milton Williams for Blankenship

Redzone Formation and Substitutions: 5-2-4. Sub in Jermaine Johnson for Blankenship to play a pressure off ball backer

Focus Players to Stop: Travis Kelce, Kenneth Walker, George Pickens

Run Game Philosophy: load up to stop Walker. Make a banged up Carr beat us

Pass Game Philosophy

Use Budda Baker to shadow Kelce. He’ll wear a Taylor Swift mask so Travis will be confused and horny. Pray that I can field useable CB’s to cover everyone else.
