THE DUKE
Mock Draft Monday, courtesy of PFN and The Goodberry/Liskow/Sans spreadsheet 18. Johnny Newton, DT Illinois 49. Cooper Beebe, OG Kansas State 80. Roger Rosengarten, OT Washington 97. Jaylan Ford, LB Texas 115. Jaheim Bell, TE Florida State 149. Luke McCaffrey, WR Rice 194. Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB Purdue 214. DeCamerion Richardson, CB Mississippi State 224. Evan Anderson, DT FAU 237. Bub Means, WR Pittsburgh Bengals 53 man Depth Chart: Offense (25) QB: Joe Burrow, Jake Browning RB: Zack Moss, Chase Brown, Tyrone Tracy Jr., Trayveon Williams XWR: Ja'Marr Chase, Trenton Irwin YWR: Tee Higgins, Andei Iosivas ZWR: Charlie Jones, Luke McCaffrey TE: Mike Gesicki, Drew Sample, Tanner Hudson, Ja'Heim Bell LT: Orlando Brown Jr, Jackson Carman LG: Cordel Volson, Cooper Beebe OC: Ted Karras RG: Alex Cappa, Cody Ford RT: Trent Brown, Roger Rosengarten Defense (25) LDE: Sam Hubbard, Myles Murphy, Cam Sample NDT: BJ Hill, Evan Anderson, Jay Tufele UDT: Sheldon Rankins, Johnny Newton RDE: Trey Hendrickson, Joseph Ossai WLB: Germaine Pratt, Akeem Davis-Gaither MLB: Logan Wilson, Jaylan Ford, Joe Bachie LCB: Cam Taylor-Britt, DeCamerion Richardson SCB: Mike Hilton, Dax Hill FS: Geno Stone, Tycen Anderson SS: Jordan Battle, Vonn Bell (Nickle LB) RCB: DJ Turner, DJ Ivey Special Team (3) K: Evan McPherson P: Brad Robbins LS: Cal Adomitis Practice Squad: Bub Means, WR Notes: Cordell Volson and Cooper Beebe would be a training camp battle for LG, i'll give the initial edge to the veteran, but I think it would be an open competition that Beebe could win. I go a little lighter at WR with only 6, not too much of a difference between street free agents and Pryor/Lassiter/Jackson. Jones/McCaffrey battle it out for a slot role, with a wildcard of more Trenton Irwin or Yoshi outside with more Chase in the slot if neither distinguishes themselves. I think Bell gets a chance to compete at TE, but he'll be behind Gesicki for sure and the Bengals tend to take it slow with rookies outside of the early rounds. I may have Newton listed as a backup, but i'd fully expect him to play about 500-600 snaps as a rookie, and this way Hill and Rankins don't get run into the ground. Rosengarten gets a year of grooming to take over at RT. We can cut bait on D'Ante Smith and Trey Hill. No experienced backup center, but have Beebe or Volson take reps there, because Hill has been awful anyway. Tracy is a big time athlete that can be RB3 with future upside, and he's met with the Bengals a couple times already. Williams is there for special teams where he is highly valued by the Bengals Richardson is a good athlete that the Bengals have met with, would be good depth that could be a potential contributor in the future or possibly even early like DJ Ivey was last year. I move Dax to slot CB behind Hilton and keep him inside where he is effective, be it at S or SCB.
THE DUKE
Reuters 7 rd mock draft Seven-round 2024 NFL mock draft: Six edge rushers, five trades, five QBs in wild Round 1 Quote 18. Brian Thomas Jr, WR, LSU - Tee Higgins recently told reporters that he expects to play in Cincinnati this season after all, seemingly squashing the trade request he issued in March shortly after receiving the franchise tag. If he and the Bengals are unable to work out a long-term deal before July's deadline for tagged players, which could be tough to manage with Cincinnati also needing to pay Ja'Marr Chase, Higgins could be on a new team by this time next year. Adding yet another dynamic LSU playmaker to this offense could therefore pay dividends in the short- and long-term. 49. Patrick Paul, OT, Houson 80. Payton Wilson, LB, NC State 97. Khristian Boyd, DT, Northern Iowa 115. Elijah Jones, CB, Boston College 149. Xavier Thomas, Edge, Clemson 194. Trey Knox, TE, South Carolina 214. Jarvis Brownlee Jr, CB, Louisville 224. Kendall Milton, RB, Georgia 237. Bucky Williams, G, Appalachian State I don't mind Thomas, but he's certainly not my first choice either. I've heard very conflicting stuff on Paul, but Goodberry seems to like him. Wilson would be an absolute steal at 80. I'm not sure if he'll be there at 49 though. Boyd is a terrible pick, his consensus rank is around 200 and we take him at 97? He has us taking 2 CB's when I think any day 3 CB will have trouble making the roster. Maybe 1, but 2? Trey Knox isn't better than Drew Sample or Tanner Hudson, pass. I don't hate Milton that late. Never heard of Bucky Williams
THE DUKE
We've had a lot of contact with Amarius Mims. Met with him at the Combine, were at the Georgia pro day, and we had him in for a top 30 visit. Other guys we hit the tri-fecta on: Erick All, TE, Iowa Chop Robinson, Edge, Penn State Johnny Newton, DT, Illinois T'Vondre Sweat, NT, Texas Gabe Murphy, Edge, UCLA (not a top 30, but had a virtual visit with him) Not the end all be all on how we pick guys, just guys we seemingly have looked at the most. I still think it's Murphy or Mims (barring my dream trade scenario). Erick All was born in the small city I live in now, so that would be kinda cool. Newton might be a trade up from 49 target if they so choose.

THE DUKE
Did no trades on PFN, double dipped on day 3 NT's 18. Quinyon Mitchell, CB Toledo 49. Roger Rosengarten, OT Washington 80. Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE Texas 97. Mekhi Wingo, DT LSU 115. Brenden Rice, WR USC 149. Jordan Jefferson, DT LSU 194. Matt Lee, OC Miami (FL) 214. Edefuan Ulofoshio, LB Washington 224. Khristian Boyd, DT Nothern Iowa 237. Carson Steele, RB UCLA Couldn't pass on what I see as a top 5 talent in this draft in Mitchell falling to 18. He and CTB solidify outside CB for the next few years or longer. Not sure if Rosengarten will last this long, but he was here so he's the swing tackle for this year with an eye of taking over RT in 2025 or if TB gets hurt yet again Sanders can come in as a young 21 year old, get cherry picked playing time but largely be TE4 as he adjusts to the NFL and take over TE1 once Gesecki chases his big contract after a year with Burrow. Wingo competes to be DT3 right away and would be a pass rush specialist early on. Rice has the inside/outside versatility I like that can get Ja'Marr in the slot more. Jefferson to compete for NT snaps Lee is a late round C I like that makes Trey Hill expendable Ulofoshio is a big time athlete and can be a special teams stud while he learns behind the Bengals veteran LB group Boyd is even bigger than Jefferson and gives us some competition for those NT reps and roster spot. Steele is a 228 lb back who can use his weight inside to complement Moss and Brown
Beck Bristow
I'm tempted to think trading up for Newton is the move here, but there are several second round DTs that I like. I'd be pretty happy with two tackles and a center today, but also think we could come away with corner, DE, WR, TE and running back. Should be a good opportunity to get some immediate rotation caliber players and future starters.
THE DUKE
Johnny Newton Troy Franklin Kool Aid McKinstry Jackson Powers Johnson I'd be happy with a trade up for any one of those If we stick at 49 There's a chance Franklin is still there Ruke Orhorhoro Keon Coleman Ben Sinnott Cooper Beebe Payton Wilson

But there seems to be enough quality there that if I was guessing it would be trade down a few spots rather than trade up. I'd add Frazier to our second round options. Beck Bristow
Good with Jenkins. There's a bunch of DTs out there and if they like this guy the best, I'm good.

Beck Bristow
26 minutes ago, THE DUKE said: 80 better be a good pick to not have been used to go get Johnny Newton Jenkins is a better run defender with pass rush upside. I don't think it's worth 80 to make that trade.
Beck Bristow
Surprised Burton over Franklin. Wonder if there's something about him that we're not aware of.
Beck Bristow
Like McKinley Jackson, but would have waited a little while for the dt double dip. However this is a guy that should be a rotational defender right away, so definitely a useful pick
