Draft Talk

You can always find RTs in any round, but where has that gotten the team in years past?  Nowhere.  This draft is incredibly deep.... At the top.  Unless they think they will be drafting in this range much the next ten years, you have to strike when given the opportunity.  I'd love Newton/Murphy/Thomas at 18, but unless the top OTs are ALL gone, this is the chance to address it with a younger player and hopefully have that player manning the spot the next ten years.

I think there's a very good chance the highest rated player at that spot is going to be an OT

I'd be surprised to see Allen that low. Is he falling? Either way, there's looking to be lots of good options in this draft.

I was pretty pleased with these options, although the first one tells you these things aren't exactly reliable. Still, Mims and Latham were both there and I decided to grab someone different.

Swap Coleman for Kris Jenkins and it would be perfect for me.

Hall doesn't add much with us already having Rankins and Hill as 3T. He'd certainly take Zach Carter's job but we need a bigger body to replace Reader.

Rankins is the only DT under contract through 2025. We need every version of competent DT play.

Unless Anarumo plans to change his scheme, we need a NT a lot more than another 3T. Not only did Reader leave without being replaced, Tupou is also a free agent. If we had to play a game tomorrow, we'd either be starting Rankins out of position or Jay Tufele. Neither is a good option there. NT isn't a first round need for us, which is good since there aren't any NT's worthy of a first round pick in this draft. We should be able to get a good prospect at NT in round 3 and back it up with another pick late on day 3.

Goodberry has been over this on Twitter. I don't think NT is as drastic a need as people think, relative to the snaps played at that position. I'm pretty sure Reader only played somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 snaps at NT.

Nine days until the draft.  Do the Bengals use 18, or trade it and Tee for JJ?  The fact that the topic went silent leads me to think there's legs.  Maybe Dax included somehow too since there has been zero word on how they plan to use him since signing Stone and Bell.  Just a Christmas in April wish for me.

The Bengals are notoriously stringent on making trades like that.  Once a generation type of thing, but I guess it has been a generation since the Carson Palmer trade
