Lions need to take a look at the Michigan Panthers kicker Jake Bates.  Hadn’t kicked a FG since high school but was a kickoff specialist and soccer player in college.  Drained a 64 yarder with 5 or so yards to spare to win the game.  That’s clutch.

I suppose it depends in overall accuracy.  Justin Tucker has a big leg but his accuracy is what makes him special.  He has been almost automatic from 50 yards and shorter.  He is definitely worth a look.

Cam Sutton turned himself in tonight. Glad he's healthy and can now go through the process.

I was just going to post that Sutton has got himself in serious trouble by hiding. I’m glad to see he turned himself in. Hopefully this is resolved quickly.

Ok.  He has a big leg.  What does his accuracy look like over the course of their season?

That is definitely the question.  They iced him on the first attempt but he still kicked it and it was just as pure.  He is 1 for 1 on the year, will be interesting to see how he does from here on out.  But as long as he doesn't go 50% or something I think he will find himself in an NFL training camp at least next year.

I'd say the Lions will keep him around for training camp and give him a shot (barring the rest of the season being an issue).

Just saw we have matched the offer for him.  Staying in Detroit.

It was a prudent move. It's not a huge contract and it lessens our need before the draft.
