The UFL Thread

[Not sure if this should have been posted in Other Sports but I thought I would post in NFL Gen for more exposure/traffic. Mods, feel free to move as necessary.]

The "inaugural" season of the merge between the XFL and USFL kicks off on Saturday, March 30, 2024, with a battle of the 2023 champions: Birmingham Stallions (USFL) vs Arlington Renegades (XFL) from each respective league.

Obviously the quality of football does not compare to the NFL, but I'll take any football during 'non-football' season. I watched most of the XFL last season and didn't have the worst time. The USFL season followed right after and barely had any steam so a merger between the two always made sense. The merger seems to be mostly under the XFL umbrella. The things that seem to stand out about this league from the NFL has been the unique rules and vastly better replay/review process, giving the brand a notch above in terms of pure TV viewership.

Who will be watching?

I almost settled on Memphis as my squad, that logo is really something. But St Louis is closer, has the better name, and Wayne Gallman is toting the rock for them.

Heck, Hakeem Butler and Darrius Shepherd might be the best WR duo out there

I think this is good football. The XFL, to me at least, was the best spring league we've ever had. I hope it lasts and I wish the NFL would start to invest in these leagues. I know the NFL doesn't need it and college football is technically their minor leagues but you can find talent in these leagues.

lmao you're starting to get an idea of what its like when an actual NFL-level talent QB plays in one of these leagues. Corral is a backup in the NFL but he is just so much better than everyone he's playing against in this league.

A shame the Battlehawks couldn't do any better than a Colts jersey knockoff. Cool helmet tho.
Panthers jersey's look clean, but should have re-branded to a new name, like War Cats or Leopards. Panthers is too common.

NFL talent been in these leagues lol. XFL in 2020 actually prioritized NFL level backup/third string QBs like McGloin, Landry Jones, Josh Johnson, etc, before the majority of people saw them get benched in favour of younger inexperienced QBs you’re seeing in this league.

Corral didn’t perform like you’re making him sound, you’re making him sound like PJ Walker 2020 on track for 40 TDs in a 10 game league lol, he didn’t even perform better than Perez, they were pretty equal.

Did you watch the game or look at the stats? I watched the whole game. He was clearly better than anyone else on the field. It wasn’t even close.

His like third Attemp he threw a pick and his TD was a fade with blown coverage. The kid is nice but he’s definitely not the best in this league, I feel like McCarron still holds that.
