Dwight McGlothern, 91.3 PFF Grade in 2023 (2nd Among CBs)

That is clearly deceptive, he only played 8 games and not totally sure but I believe Clark or Walcott were the other CBs so of course they got attacked and the safeties were not great either so why even go at McGlothern because you do not need to.  And for the most part that was a bad defense anyway at Arkansas so having that high of a CB grade shows that is deceptive based on number of games played and just not being tested.

Agree.  I mentioned this in another thread but DJ Chark or Tyler Boyd would be great.

Does anyone have a list of what WR’s are still available to sign? I’m wondering if they don’t want to sign anyone so as not to disrupt us getting compensatory picks

The Minnesota Vikings are signing my client Doug Nester (G/T, West Virginia) to a rookie free agent deal. Major need for interior offensive line depth there.

In 2023 as a fifth year senior West Virginia T Nester saw action in 11 games and played a total of 621 snaps for the Mountaineers. He allowed 8 QB hurries, 3 QB hits, and no sacks while playing most of his snaps at right tackle.

Jeremy Flax, OT, Kentucky (UDFA)

6' 5 1/2, 343#
Hometown: Detroit, MI

Overview

A two-year starter with a broad frame, Flax has spent his time almost exclusively at right tackle but might need to push inside to guard to have a shot at the next level. He lacks slide quickness to mirror edge rushers up to the top and struggles with redirecting his weight back inside against inside moves. He’s long but needs to improve his hand usage to make his length work for him. He doesn’t generate much movement as a drive blocker due to his lack of bend, but he might have enough size and potential to warrant a late look in the draft.

Strengths

  • Broad and burly with above-average length.
  • Uses hand strength to latch in when rush gets on top of him.
  • Hard snap-off sends twisting ends into his guard’s lap.
  • Decent explosiveness into angle blocks.
  • Could be a more formidable player with a move to guard.

Maryland’s Jesaun Jones first three touches in college:

Rushing TD, Receiving TD, Passing TD

Jeshaun Jones is a 5th year senior wide receiver for Maryland, he’s a very intelligent person as he has made Academic All-Big Ten 3 out of the 4 years he has been at Maryland. Shows good release vs press & off man, solid vs bail. Sets up routes well with good stem off LOS to create good leverage. Overall, good manipulation ability as route runner, drops bad level well and uses head fakes to sell double moves. Possesses overall good hands as pass catcher, good with catching with hands instead of body. Shows good CIT ability over middle of field within frame, shows good ability to secure catch through contact. Good tracking ability downfield, able to find the ball in the air well and adjust to where it’s thrown. Displays good long speed when getting vertical downfield to stretch the field well on go/fly routes.

Underrated run blocker, good ability to sustain and leverage blocks and shows great willingness to get physical as a blocker. Possesses adequate ability to play above rim and go up and get 50/50 balls. Has adequate body control downfield and around the boundary to adjust and make tough catches in traffic. Adequate RAC ability, overall adequate lateral ability to make defenders miss in space and possesses poor physical strength to run through tackles. Possesses adequate acceleration/burst in open field to outrun DB’s with good speed, not much of a home run hitter after catch.

Sixth-year offensive lineman Matthew Cindric is a long time anchor of the Cal offensive line. During his time with the Bears, Cindric played in 35 games and became the team's active leader in career starts with 34 — he split his starts between center and right guard.

Injuries cut the final two seasons of his collegiate career short — he played  just six games in 2022 and one game in 2023.

Ty James, WR | Mercer

Strengths: Two-time FCS All-American with 3,000-plus yards, 30 TDs, and 10 school records on his resume. Beats press off the line with releases and swipes/swims. Physical at the LOS and at the break and will attack leverage to create separation.

Weaknesses: Won’t take the top off a defense. Too many passes get into his body — must catch with his hands extended from his frame to limit drops and keep DBs away from the ball. Change of direction is average at best and shows up on hard-breaking routes.

Overall: Ty James has the production and tape to warrant a last-round selection with the physicality to make the investment worth it.

Projection: Round 7-HPFA

Devron Harper, WR | Mercer

Strengths: Return ace (one kick return TD and three punt return TDs in the last three seasons). Effective as a runner, both as an RB and as a WR on jet sweeps/pitches. Blazing acceleration laterally and upfield.

Weaknesses: Awfully small (5’8″ and 160 pounds). Not a clean route runner — more of an athlete who can catch than a true receiver. Got behind FCS defenses, but long speed (4.59 40) isn’t as dangerous in the NFL.

Overall: With the new kickoff rules, Devron Harper’s skill set is even more intriguing and should earn him multiple camp invites.

Projection: PFA

Doug Nester is an interesting get, well traveled and was a very solid player at Virginia Tech early in his career then transferred.  Love the size for him at OG and that interior on West Virginia was obviously good with how they ran the ball and with Frazier being the center with Nester next to him.  My hope is Nester provides them with much needed OG depth something they basically do not have unless they get a starting LG and Brandel is the backup.  Curious if they believe Brandel is the starting LG going forward.  Even Jurgens could be a guard potentially backup also which would be great along with center.

Jeshaun Jones is talented no question just never took his game to another level but is a decent get, clearly had his best year this past season and honestly he could beat out all the other WRs and be the 4th one on the team, could see him beating out Nailor and the rest but we will see.  Flax was ok on Kentucky and a solid get, love that they are getting someone at that size being 6-5 1/2 340, do not really have size like that on the roster so good to get some to see what he is like.  Trey Knox is a decent TE but a little small but can make plays at times.  The real crown jewel of this UDFA class in Gabriel Murphy though to me no question.
