Commanders release K Brandon McManus; sign Ramiz Ahmed

Update: Commanders agreed to terms with a replacement kicker, Ramiz Ahmed

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/commanders-agree-to-terms-with-k-ramiz-ahmed

After going undrafted in 2019, Ahmed only played one career game with the Packers in 2022 as a kickoff specialist (Mason Crosby handled the normal field goal duties). I don't really remember the context of this, though. More recently, Ahmed spent part of the 2024 spring season with the Birmingham Stallions after Chris Blewitt was injured. Ahmed went 10-for-13, including 4-for-7 from beyond 40 yards. He holds the record for the longest field goal in USFL history with a 61-yarder after playing for both the Pittsburgh Maulers and New Jersey Generals.

He very well may still be a placeholder until the Commanders address this with a more experienced veteran.

It did not turn out to be BS. There's a reason no MLB team is willing to touch Bauer with a ten foot pole.

I'm good with less of both.

Or NFL teams, being businesses, can protect their brands.

It’s the sensitive public that wants action done before evidence that causes them to protect their brand. Many examples on this forum.

This guy plays one of the most easily replaceable positions in the sport, has no previous ties to the organization and the news came out during the off-season which makes a change even easier to make. Washington can’t enter the season with a possible suspension looming over one of their specialists head. He gets to keep his guaranteed money from the signing and will have his day in court to defend himself while Washington will simply move on with their season. I don’t see why anyone would criticize Washington for releasing him they did what any team would do.

I agree.  I would love to see a guy just lay butker out. As for McManus the talent does not equal the tolerance.

"Please hurt this guy who has different views from me" lol

Actually butker needs to go get on his time machine and go back in time to where his view point is acceptable.

Sure, thing. Whatever you say. You're still advocating someone get laid out because they don't agree with your view point.

Except that's not what he said...?

Not directly but essentially he said Females only reach happiness being Married and having kids and being a stay at home mom.   That is a very Mysogintlstic thing to say and has 0 place in society.

Also not what he said. Out of respect for Nacho I'm not gonna continue this but I think the entire thing got blown out of proportion. I'm not even really defending the guy but I think we should be genuine on what he said. ✌️
