WR Brandon Aiyuk Requests a Trade

You can see why the 49ers are not happy with him. They have tried to meet his APY asking price and trade demands. He doesn't know what he wants. It's been a cluster of a mess.

I also would have to imagine his agent is asking the same questions to Aiyuk!

The only person they should be unhappy with is Paraag. Could have had Aiyuk extended but they simply never valued him at the market rate before and after the WR market exploded. They haven't "tried to meet" his demands. They caved to most of them after they went calling around and failing to find a suitable replacement player at Aiyuk's skill level. What's hilarious is Aiyuk has at no point been asking JJ/CD top money, but fans have gaslit themselves to justify the vengeance they want to see extracted on Aiyuk for not bending to the 49ers will.

Aiyuk did ask for a trade though. 49ers found some partners that will pay him, but then Aiyuk doesn't want to go there lmao. He can rot in the catacombs at this point or honor his contract.

Idk why people keep saying this. He knows what he wants. He just doesnt want the same thing the niners want.

I think the reason people are pissed at Aiyuk is simple for a couple of reasons:

1- Aiyuk has come out and said he was picking out a suit and getting ready to sign when we were offering him closer to 26. Then the market exploded so he wanted more. Nbd you have to get what you can get while you can. We have since raised our offer according to all the reports, so one would think that he achieved his goal.

2. He requested a trade which we facilitated so he could get the money he wanted. He then said he didn’t want to go to the teams that were willing to pay him.

3. We supposedly have a deal on the table for him that he won’t accept and we also have a trade in place with at least one team that he won’t commit to.

4. He’s been acting like an absolute child on social media this entire time.

It seems to me that he keeps moving the goal posts and it is Aiyuk that is holding everything up.

Should we have locked him up earlier? Absolutely, it would have saved us a substantial chunk of change. Now we have reached the point that we don’t want to go any higher, which is fine, so let’s trade him; but we can’t do that either because he is refusing to go to any of the teams that are willing to work with us.

It absolutely seems like it is BA that is holding this team hostage, and if he had gone about it in a professional matter then I think people would be far more forgiving.

They say you can’t have your cake and eat it too, but it seems like we’ve given him every option to get what he wants and he’s not taking advantage of it and doing it in an extremely unprofessional manner.

Yes, he asked for a trade to show that he could get what he was asking for from another team. The team tried to play hard to get and it failed.

Good for him to say he doesn't want to extend with the Browns and Patriots. The Steelers trade offer still exists. The 49ers need to figure out how they want to move forward. They know what it's going to take to get Aiyuk to extend. They know what offers exist. They know what options they have if no extension happens.

That's just it- he seems to be upset that they didn't trade him to Pitt for pennies. He supposedly agreed to terms at a discount with Pittsburgh because he wants to play there.

They can not allow Pitt/BA to collude and force SF to accept a **** trade. I'd rather just tell him to stay home and get a comp pick. It's a horrible precedent to set not only for the 49ers, but the entire league. If he wants to play this season there are 3 options.. its up to BA to make a damn decision

show up and then he can sign with the Steelers in free agency next year

Agree to an extention with SF

Agree to one with Cleveland...if their offer is even on the table any more.

The thing is that I’m pretty sure we have a trade in place with Pittsburgh, but we are still waiting on Aiyuk to make up his mind.

How did the team try to play hard with New England, and Cleveland? Aiyuk simply didn't want to go there despite financial compensation that matched up to his demands. So obviously it's not just about money for him.

If the 49ers feel like the Steelers aren't giving up anything valuable, then there is no trade offer essentially. Or there is, but Aiyuk really doesn't want to play with the Russell Wicket, and Justin Fields clown show. Aiyuk can now languish in the dungeon bleeding money, nuke his career with the Steelers, play on his 5th, or sign the deal already offered.

49ers were SB contenders before Aiyuk was a 49er, they can be one without him too.

The 49ers played hard to get with Aiyuk and failed. And yes, he's obviously not just about the money. Fans have gaslit themselves into believing that though.

Aiyuk is willing to extend with Pittsburgh. This isn't a secret. The hold up has always been the trade compensation, which is why the 49ers leaked the Browns/Pats trade discussion. They wanted the Steelers to increase their offer and that did not work. The 49ers still haven't told the Steelers to kick rocks to this point.

Aiyuk is a major contributor as to why they are SB contenders now. He was told to go out and prove himself last year and he did. The 49ers already reportedly caved on most of the major points on a contract extension. They know what needs to be done to get the deal done. Given Paraag's pushover nature, Aiyuk and his agent are right to keep pushing. Trent and his agent made the right call to push now for a raise. Thanks CMC!

That's not what is happening with Pittsburgh. Aiyuk has agreed to an extension if he's traded to the Steelers. The Steelers have submitted a trade package to the 49ers. They've been sitting on that offer as they go through their options. They tried to find a third team to provide a Wide Receiver in the 49ers compensation to replace Aiyuk. That didn't work. They then caved to most of Aiyuk's demands in an attempt to get him to extend. Aiyuk and his agent feel they have enough leverage to extract a concession in the final year of the contract extension the two sides are currently negotiating.

The 49ers options at this point:

  1. Cave to Aiyuk's remaining demands. Aiyuk is a 49er for the foreseeable future.
  2. Trade Aiyuk to the Steelers. The 49ers get a 2025 day two pick at a minimum.
  3. Have Aiyuk play on the fifth-year option then
    1. Trade Aiyuk midseason. The 49ers get a 2025 day three pick.
    2. Extend Aiyuk. Would lose ability to spread some the signing bonus into 2024 and reduce his 2024 cap hit.
    3. Do nothing. The 49ers get Aiyuk for this year and a 2026 mid-round compensatory pick when Aiyuk walks into free agency next offseason.

Does anyone else notice that they parade Paraage out whenever stuff is going on.  Whether it is CapHell with Erickson and Donahue, Nolan's horrible garbage challenges.  Probably in 2015 during the Harbaalke break up.  And now with Aiyuk.

I think part of Paraag's job is to know languages in the salary cap and help structure contracts, but I think his main job is to be a scape goat when things go wrong.  The mean accountant trope seems to play well every 5th year or so.

Fisrt the 9ers missed their boat, then Aiyuk created an impossible situation and missed his boat.  Now there is no boat.

I’ve seen a couple places that we had something in place with Pitt. So to me that means we’re waiting on BA.
