Behind what line and throwing to who? They'd be crazy to play him with the offense as presently constructed.

This is what everyone said about the Texans last year, that they have no weapons. Funny how that turned out. JaLynn Polk and Javon Baker are fun mystery boxes. And Pop Douglas is one of the best slots in the game.

You picked an outlier out of the dozens of times that teams have ruined young QBs by throwing them into situations where they have little to no help and/or are not ready.

You probably said the same about the Texans last year.

Also, Drake Maye is ready. I don’t think you realize how good he actually is lol.

Patriots are going 1-16 if they start Jacoby. He has no mobility behind a bad OL.

I could easily see them go 7-10 or 8-9 with Drake Maye.

You do realize how mobile Maye is right? He’s like Josh Allen, he’s gonna be scrambling for yards constantly. It’s one of his best skillsets.

If the guy's not hurt then this is weird. He needs the reps whenever he can get them.

Backup may need to play a few games this year and with the recent moves made, the readiness of their backup could make or break their playoff aspirations.

I don't get it, either.

One of Drake's issues coming into the league was his footwork. Starting him behind a bad oline before he's ready could lead to a lot of bad habits. Why not just let Jacoby be the crash test dummy until Drake is ready? I mean, that's why they brought him in to begin with.

who said he’s not?

Jerod Mayo is not an idiot.  He will start Jacoby Brissett,  throw him to the wolves behind this pitiful OL and lack of offensive talent for at least the first month of the season if not two given their schedule. Possibly longer.

@ Bengals

vs Seahawks

@ Jets

@ SF

vs Dolphins

vs Texans

......

@ Jags ?

vs Jets

@ Titans

If / when the Patriots go 1-3,  0-4, 0-6 then Maye can be viewed as the Savior and give NE fans potential hope moving forward. Hard to get any worse?

Could you imagine that same kind of start to the season and Maye looking like a deer in headlights vs those 6 opponetts, getting killed every other snap like David Carr?

Baring injury Brissett is starting week 1 and most likely the first 2 months of the season.

Week 5 would be best. Miami’s D projects to not be good this year.
