Like they never imagined it would come up in a game. The Goal Line Series wasnt a good one, no one will pretend it is, but do you actually know how were doing on 4th down situations this year? Outside of that horrible call there we are 7/8 on going for it on 4th down. Eith the one miss being the end of game 4th & 17 or something like that. Id say they are doing pretty well in those situations. Its just that one was very visible and absolutely awful. How many power run plays are you seeing on short yardage is my point, not 4th down conversions. Not many. You need a short yardage run game to succeed at any level of football. QB sneak. Power. Dive. Whatever.

Not saying they don't all suck but I think you're setting a bad precedent if you're overriding these guys on the sideline. Nobody likes to be micromanaged, but the HC hears the plays in his head set. He can overrule plays in key moments and it is not uncommon. A timeout should have been called from sideline on that option play when they didn't get look they wanted. They should have all seen it. Flus too. 1 hour ago, BEAR FACE DOWN ARROW said: Are you willing to accept this season as a comedic exercise? The games get a lot more fun if you can sustain it for an entire game. Coleman Shelton is carrying my Ironic FF team. Every time he blocks a Bear, it's a point, missed assignments are 2 and him getting used as a projectile by the opposing team is 10. I'm unbeatable! I agree it's all ****ty but I don't think Flus taking over is going to make it better. It's a familiar feeling to discover that the best hope for a part of your team is "maybe they'll get lucky" or "maybe they'll all just get better at their jobs" but I feel like it's the most realistic path forward. If you are going to be HC of a football team you should know both sides of the ball to a high degree of competency. You should know your own offensive scheme almost as well as your OC even if you are a defensive coach. The HC of a football team should know every job of every player on offense and defense. Not to nuance of the specialist with techniques and what not, but the assignments and the schemes. When a play call gets called in Flus headset he should know exactly what it is supposed to be looking like on field. If a coach can't do that he is incompetent to be the head coach IMO. I don't know that he can't. I assume he can. He has been coaching professionally for decades. If he can't he is dumb. It isn't easy, but it isn't rocket science either. Yeah but then you run the risk of making Waldron sad due to micromanaging. Did you ever think of that?

LOL in seriousness, I presume Waldron presents the game plan to Flus each week and he approves it and makes any changes or suggestions he wants as HC. Then they actually work on the plays against scout team. So there is no out for Flus. He is responsible for disaster of first 3 games offensively. He stamped them. It was a bad call down at the goal line (probably anywhere in shot yardage) but pretending this one call in an indictment on everything the Bears are and ever will be is getting ridiculous And again, Andy Reid is NEVER butting in on a 3rd down to tell Spags what to call, pretending it should happen just because it’s the offense is just wrong. dll2000
And I don't blame them for Calebs errors of which there have been a ton. But that is to be expected of a rookie QB. I blame them primarily for having zero power run game. That is ridiculous. Like golfing without a putter. Also for the personnel mismanagement. Don't you know your team? You are with them all day for months on end.
dll2000
It was 4 bad calls inside the 4. Not 1 play. When you can't get 4 yards in 4 plays I get pissed. I can live with the wildcat call. So 3. All 3 from Gun in 11 personnel. That is not power football. But it wasn't JUST that series. Or JUST 1 play. Waldron has had 9 plays inside the 5 yard line and been in gun for ALL of them. And they have had 2nd and 3rd and short lots and blown many of them. You have to have a power run game in place to get short yardage. BEAR FACE DOWN ARROW
So really dug deep into the film study on this one and have some conclusions: Staley gives an absolute **** effort These guys (either) would probably hold the Bears to 9pts right now
