From an article I posted above:

Schneider's current contract doesn't have an out clause to Green Bay, but contracts in sports -- like records -- are made to be broken. Don't for a minute think Seahawks owner Paul Allen won't allow Schneider to talk to the Packers about becoming their next GM.

Until Schneider comes out and says he's staying in Seattle, nothing's off the table.

Pete Carroll said earlier this week he's "convinced" Schneider isn't going anywhere.

Mean if he and Murphy both agree to it they don't have a choice.

Can't have a GM for your team who's telling you he wants to go elsewhere. Especially in a job where he is picking your players, they'd have to work out compensation, but Seattle would either be left with compensation or a guy who openly doesn't want to be there.

Griffin, Clark, Reed, Nazair Jones are all good young pieces to their defense, we'll see how Malik McDowell turns out too, but Bennett and Avril were pretty brilliant signings too.

I don't like his trades, but I love his philosophy regarding athletic ability and defensive prospects. Im sure he was high on King and Jones, but Im also sure guys like Fackrell, Rollins, Ryan, Biegel, Martinez, etc would have been no where on his radar.

The guy is so far and away the best candidate for us .. make it happen Mark Murphy.

Was Schneider a FA last offseason? If he extended before his deal was up, I bet he's absolutely kicking himself right now. Would've been a no brainer IMO if the clause still was in that contract.

Now, I'd rather have Wolf, Gute or DeCosta than give up a day 2 pick and probably cash to get Schneider.

McCarthy said he is involved in the GM hiring process .. might be that this is the 'fit' he was talking about.  I've read before that they were close.  If you are talking experience as well .. how could Murphy not hire him if he wanted to come here.  We know he has had interest in coming here .. now is the time.  I am jumping on this bandwagon ... John Schneider .. your new Green Bay Packers General Manager.

Honestly this would be the year to give up a pick... GB has 12 I think (if the comp pick projections are to be believed). Maybe they can do something like a 3rd this year and next. Or a 4th this year and a 2nd next.

Like a QB or HC... if you know in your heart of hearts John Schneider is your guy... go out and get him a pick here or there isn’t going to hurt us if we get the best GM.

The comp might not be real high ... Seattle might not go overboard if they could get some assurance that Schneider wouldn't raid their scouting staff.  It's all a negotiation.

What I learned on twitterdotcom today:

Russ Ball is the only human alive that actually wants to be GM of the Packers

Brian Gutenkunst is the only human alive that likes Russ Ball. McCarthy hates him, Rodgers hates him. Both are walking if Ball is the GM.

Murphy is an idiot.

Perry is the frontrunner to be DC even though the guy who would hire him is going to quit.

Alright. ?

Probably time to just log out for a week idk.

Isn't Biegel a pretty surprisingly good athlete? Clay Matthews like IRRC.

I finally sense harmony with the idea of John Schneider as our next GM.  McCarthy and Rodgers are probably happy.  The underlings like Wolf and Gute can't complain since the new guy has super bowl cred.  Ball is probably disappointed, but he probably isn't getting a better job elsewhere.  Ted is probably content to sit in a dark room evaluating film.  Murphy is happy because everyone else .. and probably the fan base is happy.  Make it so!

There will be harmony if anyone other than Ball gets the job. I don't think anyone will be upset with Gute or Wolf.

Yeah .. maybe ... I'd just rather have the proven guy over those two.  This is a big time job, and Schneider is a big time GM.

Lets be real. Our "Fire Schneider" thread would be around version 6 right now if our Oline looked like Seattle's has the last few years.

Probably but lots of Seattle fans i follow blame it on Cable, not talent. So that would be on Cable/ Petey steel beamz.
