Shanedorf
Squire - kudos for the effort Some talked about Jabaal Sheard earlier and he's a decent option at OLB, both in this exercise and in real life. Indy is going to the Tampa-2 version of the 4-3 defense per their new DC and Sheard really won't have a role for them going forward. He will be cut and might be an affordable option ( 29 years old) Can't have too many pass rushers...and Sheard also played for Pettine in Cleveland in 2014

Guys that could be easily cut if beat out by younger players. My top choices: RUSH: Lamarr Houston (finally healthy in CHI he had 4 sacks in the last 5 games of 2017, think he'd be a cheap inside/outside rush package guy to play 10-15 snaps a game) DL: Shemar Stephen/Quinton Dial: Liked having that backup run plugger last year. Dial was fine, I think Stephen is a slight upgrade. OL: Michael Schofield: Can play OG/RT, 34 career starts, 3rd round pick, fits all the Packers athletic requirements. Spriggs/Schofield/McCray would be top 3 off the bench in this scenario and I think that'd be the best OL depth we've had in awhile. Lamarr Houston APY = $915K Dial APY = $790K Stephen APY = $1.5M Schofield APY = $1.5M

Houston especially, 4 sacks in 5 games to end the year. Think he's a great buy low candidate, wish Ted did more of that in his tenure. Up to you who you prefer between Dial and Stephen, they serve the same purpose.

Helps to have lots of input and thoughts from other posters. IND GM is not sure he should be moving Sheard. Can't say I disagree as pass rushers just about always have a place on a roster. Thought the switch in defensive scheme might make him less valuable, but pass rushers rarely lose value in any scheme.
squire12
Upcoming schedule.... Round 3 Free Agency Bidding (20% APY decrease) Deadline to have contracts created – Sun, 25th @ 9pm FA Bidding Results – Sun, 25th @ 10pm Unrestricted Free Agency Should be updated UFA players. Again, GB has $8,944,581 in cap space currently. Net cost for the current draft picks of $3.54M means that GB has around $5.4M to work with. Restructuring Mike Daniels would free up $2.9M in 2018 Let me know thoughts on UFA targets and ideas on possible player cuts to free up some cap space. I will be traveling and on mobile for all of tomorrow and Sunday, so if I am slow to respond....that is why. @CWood21 feel free to take the bull by the horns over the next few days. squire12
Looking for some thoughts on doing a contract restructure for Mike Daniels. It would reduce the 2018 cap hit by $2.9M. It would be nice to have that little extra to be able to add a veteran pass Rusher in the next round or 2 of UFA. It does move the $2.9M from 2018 into 2019, but as of now, GB has the cap space to do it and with Cobb, Nelson and Matthews all coming off the books, it does not hurt the 2019 flexibility. Here is what the old and new contract would look like. Unfortunately, doing an extension is limited as the system requires Daniels to have a 2 year contract. Yeah, it is likely not to happen IRL, but getting a little more cap space to increase the ability to secure a player at a key position is a correct move IMO. Hoping that GB will look to do more things to improve the roster overall. I am not in favor of going overboard with pushing $$ into future years, but within the next few years, that might be the "right" thing to do. Going a bit all in as Rodgers pushes toward the high 30's age wise.
Packerraymond
Aaron Lynch drop enough that you would consider him? Last two years stunk, but he was legit his first two years in the league. Another potential buy low guy but I see he had a higher initial number.
squire12
I was looking at him last night. $3.6M APY. could structure a contract to be an easy out with limited $$ in the first year. There are some others out there. Hali $7.2M Mingo $1.5M Ahmad Brooks $1.1M CAR has Mario Addison on the trade block. Need to look at some safeties Corey Graham $1.4M
