I dont see this at all, I mean we never know "how" Michael got out in the original, we didnt need the mechanism on how it happened this time either, just that it DID happen.

Even with getting the reveal that it was Dr. Sartain, people are still theorizing it was Laurie that crashed the bus, orchestrating this entire thing to be able to lure Michael in. Or atleast that that may had been an idea earlier in the script due to some of her dialog and her watching the bus leave.

I said earlier, Im actually intrigued by the idea of Sartain orchestrating this as an "experiment in the wild" for Michael to bring out the true Evil that he has never personally seen, which Loomis spoke of. But I just dont think it was done very well. The set up should have been better, and then him putting on the mask was pretty Hokey as well.

I’m talking about getting Michael to Laurie’s house. There was no reason for him to go there until he was driven there.

He has always been after Laurie, not because of the unneeded Sister plot line from 2, but because she literally unknowingly walked up to the Gates (front step) of Hell. Which is what made her Michael's obsession. He stalks her through the entire first film, and its who she is looking for as soon as he gets out of this one. He is going from house to house until they run into each other.

He would then try to hunt down Allyson (as its assumed he can feel the pull of Laurie) but he would have eventually found Laurie's cabin, the Doctor/Cop Car may be a Fast Forward button, but he would have gotten there.

He didn’t bother looking for a Laurie at all this film. I doubt he even recognized her. He killed two journalist who had information on Laurie’s location. He didn’t bother to go after. He saw her in the window of the house and didn’t start following her. He got shot by her and continued to just randomly kill people.

He literally never went after Laurie until he was escorted in the middle of nowhere to her house. And even then he killed the police and husband first and only went after Laurie when the daughter was locked in the basement and it was just him and Laurie in the house. And Laurie was hunting him. Then he got Laurie off the roof and sees that she is missing. And then he still ignores her and tries to get in the basement knowing Laurie is likely still alive somewhere.

He had multiple chances to go after Laurie in the film and only did once it was his only options.

His obsession with Laurie in the first film was almost entirely based on her happening to show up at his house and he got fixated on her and her friends because he’s crazy. This movie makes it pretty clear that Michael really didn’t care much about Laurie and it’s probable he didn’t even recognize her this many years later..

My only problem with the movie was the dumb barrier thingies because Michael legitimately instantly tore them down when he decided he didn’t want to be trapped upstairs anymore

Not sure what youre talking about? The room he fights her in, she didnt drop the roll out door. She was doing that after clearing rooms so he couldnt go hide in those... Not to trap him in the rooms. The hall ways and stairs were still accessible

The voice is actually P.J. Soles, who was Lynda in the original... Totally

Thanks for sharing that.

A couple more connections

He steals another mechanic's suit (kinda had to do that one tho)

"just the Two of Us" is the background music of choice at the party, and what Laurie sang after dropping off the house key at the Myers house in the original.  I think it is used a few times in the present story

And I believe Carpenter and Jamie Lee wrote/created that song themselves to save money in the original
