He made some critical throws all season when games were on line and needed. Phil Simms was the head of run dominant team in college and barely did anything but look at his NFL career Favre only had like 50 tds in college in over 40 games Heck even Tom Brady was worse in college at UM. College stats mean little. Ryan Leaf is prime example.
