That is accurate.

When/If I absolutely need them I will take them.

so you do “believe in them”?

I think, though, that they most often are avoidable, which is contrary to how they are prescribed.

Like in your case, where you chose not to make the changes necessary?

It is a physical condition but not biomechanical, and not unregulable.

My body cannot stop me from smoking the next cigarette, or drinking the next martini or eating the next order of pork belly or pate'.

Its not biomechanical due to the nature that the issue with poor eyesight is not a mechanical aspect of your eyes.

Because I do not have the willingness to alter my habits to counteract the condition?

Okay. But that doesn’t explain why you think it will help when you literally said you don’t trust it to work?

No.

I am claiming that I cannot alter the purely mechanical aspects.

Again. You argued that you can fix your blood pressure. Which is based on the health of your heart. A physical organ. And mechanically determines your blood pressure.

Much like saying you can overcome diabetes with proper diet and exercise. But use insulin because you like tacos and cigs. But disregarding that your pancreas is not producing insulin regardless of what you eat & what you smoke.

I was not able to will cataracts away.

That required surgery.

But you can will heart disease and cancer and diabetes away? Disregarding all could need cancer to fix. Because those are not " purely mechanical aspects " (despite them being).
