Mahomes and it is starting to look like its not even close.

Maybe the best second year player ever in the NFL

Dan Marino would like a word with you.....

But seriously, Mahomes's current season isn't even close to Marino's second season in the league

Actually...It's better.

Marino's '84 stats.

14-2 record, 64.2% 5084 yards, 48 TD 17 INT, 9.0 Y/A 108.9  QB rating

Mahomes current record and pace

10-2 record, 66.9%, 5231 yards, 55 TD 13 INT, 9.15 Y/A, 118.1 QB rating

Depending on weather, Mahomes could break PM's TD record. 3 of the Chiefs next 4 games are at arrowhead and the away game is in Seattle. However, they do play the 5th and 9th best defense by DVOA with the Ravens and Chargers.

I don't know if you consider Marino's second season as the best season ever by a QB in the history of the league but Mahomes' season is close to as good as any season by any QB in the history.

He is playing arguably as good as prime Brady, prime Manning. Same thing for Brees this season.

This is exactly what is wrong with people these days. They just look at statistics in a vacuum as if that means anything whatsoever. No, Mahomes current season is not even close to Marino's 1984 season.

Averages in the NFL in 1984: 56.2 CMP % 4.3 TD% 4.1 INT% 7.1 Y/A 76.1 passer rating

Averages in the NFL in 2018: 65.2 CMP% 5.0 TD% 2.4 INT% 7.5Y/A 94.4 Passer rating

54 more touchdowns have been thrown in 2018 than in 1984 and there's still 4 weeks of football left in addition to the games tonight. It's insane the difference. There were 4 QBs with a 90+ passer rating that year, this year there's 23. It is obviously easier to throw the ball today than in 84'.

It definitly is close.

Mahomes is on pace to put up roughly the same stats as Peyton Manning had with the Broncos in 2013, by far the best Manning's season purely in terms of statistics. Think about that for a second.

Mahomes put up slightly better numbers in a season where the average passer rating is up over 18 points from the season Marino had in 84'. So no, it is not close. Marino's 84'>>>>>>Mahomes 18'. This shouldn't be a contested claim, I'm just stating the obvious.

Oh, and the same could be said about Mahomes compared to Peyton's 13' season. except 8 points instead of 18 IIRC. And

by far the best Manning's season purely in terms of statistics.

That's not even true. Peyton's 04' season was better in terms of efficiency stats.

It would be really awesome if he could play defense too.

No. You don't get to use that excuse. I can accept that the MVP award will always go to a QB because of their importance and impact on a team. Since that is the case, you do not get to say things like this. When RB's, WR's, Defensive players start winning the MVP award, then you can make the comment "Well he can't do everything", but until that day comes, this goes out the window.

Donald is great but he is no prime JJ Watt.

He's putting up better number than Watt did in 2014. He's better. Donald is unblockable and is being double teamed more than anyone in the league. He's also actually winning games for us with the plays he made in Seattle, vs KC, and vs Detroit yesterday.

Through 12 Games

2018 Donald: 16.5 sacks, 43 Tackles, 20 TFL, 32 QB Hits, 4 FF's, 2 FR

2014 Watt: 11.5 Sacks, 54 Tackles, 16 TFL, 36 QB Hits, 3 FF's, 5 FR.

Granted, the Rams aren't using Donald like a gimmick in redzone situations like Texans did with Watt, but Donald is playing better than Watt did. And if he breaks Strahan sack record, it will likely be one of, if not thee, greatest defensive season we've ever seen.

I agree. People talk about Watt not only for what he was doing defensively but they look at how he was scoring tds in the redzone. Like seemingly every time we saw highlights of Watt they show him scoring a td and the media was hyping it up like he shouldve been MVP that season. What Donald is doing is far better because nobody is getting this amount of sacks from the defensive tackle position in the history of the NFL. The scary thing is if Im not mistaken Donald went the firs 4 games with no sacks. So technically he has gotten 16.5 sacks in his last 7 games. Thats insane. He is also getting double teamed by far the most in the NFL. Thats what I call domination.

How do you figure?

EDIT: 2014 is a little convenient, no? Watt in 2012 had more tackles, more TFLs, and more sacks through 12 games.

Watt had 5 total touchdowns that season (3 offense, 2 defense). That is significant. He also had an interception. I get comparing through 12 games to an extent, but obviously Watt went off towards the end of 2014 finishing with over 20 sacks. Maybe Donald gets there or maybe he goes on a drought like he did to start the season. As it stands now, I'm taking Watts 2014 season over Donald's current season, but obviously a lot can change over the next month.

He’s doing from the inside being doubled over 70% of the time with zero outside pass rush help. Lol. Donald is what you call a driver killer or aka a human wrecking ball.

Like what the dog in GOT Fudge Watt.

Donald is out here snatching souls.

What Donald is doing hasn’t been seen in 4eva.

I just don’t think y’all understand what being doubled over 70% time is about.
