Jack Riley Show - Interview with Lancaster Werewolves owner @rackcs

Cody Whitehair, Vonn Bell, Anthony Barr, Shaq Barrett this is just a short list of Trades you've made and these particular ones were all made with WSR. Is this going to be a regular trade partner in the future?

I hope so. Wes Williams is a fair trading partner and I think we've come up with a few mutually advantageous trades so far. Let's just hope all of the picks he's gotten from me with end up being very late in their rounds.

Have all your acquisitions lived up to expectations thus far?

I believe so. They've filled key holes in our roster both as starters and depth and have in my opinion pushed us into true contender territory. In regards to Shaq Barrett, I'm extremely excited to see how well he does for us as a pass rushing specialist.

If the trend continues with Lancasters success week 12 is set to be for the division clinching lead. How excited are you for this Cuba rematch?

Extremely. I think this division is the toughest one in the entire BDL and so being at the top is exciting. However, when you're at the top everyone is going to be coming at you with their best week in and week out. Cuba especially is an interesting matchup because one of their biggest strengths (WRs) matches up with one of our biggest strengths (CBs). It should be a good game.

Camden is finally getting healthy, how concerned are you that they could derail your season goals?

Very. As I said before, this is a tough division. Camden is a dynamic offense with a stellar young QB who can hurt you on the ground and in the air. Camden is definitely better than their record.

What has your biggest accomplishment/ failure been as an owner?

My biggest accomplishment and failure are related. My biggest accomplishment I think has been acquiring George Kittle. He in my opinion was the missing piece that this offense needed to get to the next level. With him as a weapon, it makes this offense even tougher to stop. My failure was not properly understanding the rules when acquiring Kittle and misunderstanding the 3 Up process. Going forward, I need to carefully consider the rules when making moves.

You took over for the previous owner after they fell to a disappearing act. Since that point what has been your philosophical approach?

My approach has been simple: win now. This team is built to be a contender and the previous owner's inaction during free agency forced me into having to trade to continue to build this team. I have been extremely aggressive in pursuing trades that help put this team in contention for the BizzBowl, often at the detriment of my future. I am going to be very lacking in picks going into these next two drafts but if Lancaster can win it all, it'll easily be worth it.

If the draft were tomorrow, with their first pick Lancaster is selecting whom?

Tough to say. I always like to keep an eye to the future in the draft, looking at who is going to be upcoming FAs. I've got Kwon Alexander and Bobby Wagner as upcoming FAs at the end of the season so LB is definitely going to be an area of concern. I really like Kenneth Murray out of Oklahoma at that position. Edge could also be a need in the future as paying Watt and Bosa will be tough. A guy like Julian Okwara out of Notre Dame would be very tempting if he fell to the 32nd spot.

What do you think about the other owners around BDL?

They're a bunch of *******. In all seriousness, I've known many of these guys for a while and respect all of them as owners. I'm very happy to be back in with this group.

Do you believe Lancaster will win it all this year?

Absolutely. We have some of the most talent from top to bottom and we stack up with anyone else in the league. The thing that I think sets us apart is our depth. We've got great depth pieces like Matt Breida, Trent Brown, Andrew Billings, Fred Warner, Anthony Barr, and Brian Poole who could easily be starters if called upon.

Anything you'd like to add?

Thanks for the interview, it's a lot of fun. Good luck to you and everyone else going forward in this season unless we're going head to head.

Thank you for your time.
