They certainly have the potential to be the best in the West given their overall talent level. However, there's too many unknowns right now to annoint them as anything better than the fourth best team in the West (definitely putting them over the Rockets).

Warriors get dropped because Klay probably won't be back until mid season.

As of right now:

1. Clippers

2. Nuggets (just because they've retained all their pieces from last year)

3. Utah

4. Lakers

5. Houston

6. Portland

7. Spurs

8. Kings

OKC is better than the kings.

The optimal lineup would've been to add shooting and another perimeter player that could create offense with that other max slot.

Troy Daniels, LeBron, AD, Danny Green, and to some extent Quinn Cook and Kyle Kuzma can all hit threes fairly well...

Bradley has been waived. He's a free agent. Lakers should be calling. Still can't believe that KCP contract.

Memphis is in no rush to trade Iggy. They want to be properly compensated and I doubt they buy him out until later in the season. He's a great mentor for the young cubs.

Ah okay, didn't know that about Bradley.  As far as Iggy staying in Memphis, I agree with you.  Would he be okay with staying there or does he want to win?  He'd be a great example for the young guys and he can help they try to be more competitive this season.

Until proven otherwise Warriors are still the best team in the West imo.

Did you think Cleveland was the best and team to beat in the East going into last season?

or... being better than he was before last year but not as good as he was before the injury? doesn't fit your narrative

Cousins has always been a stat padder, ball stopper and hasn’t really ever contributed to winning. There’s a reason that there was no market for him in FA...

He had a few glimpses but overall he wasn't good in the Finals.

He was already coming of a torn Achilles. And on top of that he was coming off a torn quad. So shock that he wasn’t able to be fully effective. Him contributing heavily in game 2 is more than they could’ve asked for.

Imagine thinking that a player coming off two serious injuries who will now have a full nba offseason to recover and get healthy will be better than the previous year. Just madness.

Outside of a few rare cases, you're not winning a championship in this league without a superstar.  In the playoffs rotations shrink and it's more about having individual players that can take over games and make superstar plays.  The Utah Jazz don't have a single player on their roster who fits into that category.

The Jazz might have the best record in basketball next season, but they're going to get bounced from the playoffs.

He doesn't want to be in Memphis, but he's a professional. Memphis will do him a solid and buy him out during the season if no one trades for him.

Mitchell averaged 26.5/5/5 on good efficiency the second half of the season.  Conley is coming off of a career year. Bojan averaged 21 on 50% FG when Oladipo went down...
