DreamKid Posted August 2, 2019 Author Share Posted August 2, 2019 Harbaugh said he's giving Ben Powers the 1st Team reps at Left Guard because he already knows that James Hurst can comfortably play the position. Hurst has been rotating with Orlando at RT. Orlando is being worked back in after initially not passing his tests. As is Eluemanor, who it seems might have Harbaugh a little hot under the collar. Harbs specifically talked about him needing to be in better shape. There's no competition at Center, and if there is, it's only in Bradley Bozeman's head according to John. He said as much this week at a presser. So it sounds like Matt Skura has that spot locked up. Despite still sailing balls over Lamar's head frequently enough to be forced to run laps at practice. Unless as you said, Mekari or one of the other young guys does something crazy going forward. It seems like we'll trot out the 2018 lineup. LG & C are our weak spots, but at least there are a couple things to be optimistic about. 1. Skura and Hurst should both be better than they were last year. Skura is still a younger player, growing as he gets more experience. And Hurst was dealing with injuries all throughout last year, so we can assume he's at least healthier now. 2. The overall synergy of the line should be stronger as well. We'll be rolling out the same lineup from last season, so it's not like these guys are unfamiliar with each other. Something that has crossed my mind, and it's a little out there. Is a possible trade for Trent Williams. In theory, we could slot him right in at LT and slide Stanley over to guard. When we drafted Stanley we still had Monroe in house, and there were talks of playing Stanley at guard then. Stanley was fine with it, and believed he would have no issues there. We basically only get individual drills from them, and then the team will put out content beyond that as they please. I see other team's reporters posting all kinds of footage though. Kenny also showed flashes when starting for an injured Mosley, so the fact that he's already being surpassed by Chris Board is simultaneously impressive for Board but also slightly concerning for Kenny Young. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
